Quick question.

Would 245/70R16's (just under 30") sit under a widetrack (1998) SWB vitara with only a 40mm suspension lift, or a 50mm body lift?

(sorry for asking a well covered question but couldn't find anyinfo for the widetrack model)

Any Vitara soft tops made after 1999 by Bestops and Pavements Ends are one size fits all.
Previously there were slight variations resulting in the 88-94 and 95-98 model soft tops.

As for the legality of a towbar on a mighty boy... It's not able to carry its own weight, let alone tow something. I only need it to take my mountain bike to Glenrock and Killy.

Update: got the car home and did everything as said. Water was in the engine, but is now all removed and spark plugs/coils cleaned and replaced.

Another problem has reared its head instead. Looks like the started motor might have swallowed some water and is refusing to cooperate.

The easiest place to get replacement ones are through your nearest dealer. They usually can get them in stock in a day or two. They cost slightly more than from supercheap or equivalent, but they are better quality and you know they are going to fit ...

Just a quick question...

I am getting a new clutch installed in my Vitara and was wondering if $720 isnt too expensive for an exedy clutch (including new bearings, plates, flywheel machined, fresh oil, etc) and $790 for the heavy duty equivalent.

Also, would it be worthwhile getting the HD version ...

for me i air down to 12(staun's set at that for rock anyway) and leave it in 2wd unless im having a real play with the big dunes and then just 4hi

Had a thorough look at it this morning and found the culprit.

One of the vacuum hoses had come a bit loose, and was letting too much air in, although some would say it had come all the way off ;). Chucked it back on and it's as good as new, if you ignore all the battle scars and the mud in the ...

Nah smiley, checked around the forum first, couldnt find anything useful.

Still dont know what caused it since it is fuel injected, no air con (roof off provides enough air) or other acc's, runs as a daily driver, etc, etc.

maybe just some crap in the exhaust or something was making it run harder ...

I took my J20a vitara for a bit of a run today and afterwards the idling has started playing up.

It will rev up to around 2500rpm, then suddenly cut down to 1500 and go straight back up to 2500 rpm every 3-5 seconds.

Any ideas?
