Good tip for you: Alot of throttle isnt always the key in the soft stuff, avoid wheelspin and have the right gear and you will hardly ever get stuck.
Try high range before low range and see how it goes for you.

I currently have a 3 link + panhard rod setup - running spings and shocks. (On a 95' hilux single cab front end) Problem I am having is that when you run over objects (small rocks etc) at speed, feels like someone is hitting underneath the car with a sldgehammer. Any ideas on what my problem could ...

I live a few mins from the dunes at Stockton, and often drive at
night just with hi-beams. The dunes are fine to drive on at night, just
need to go a bit slower in the bigger stuff, dropoffs can come up pretty quick and watch out for quicksand

(None around at the moment)

Some interesting arguments either side here.
But i must say, Gwagen steve, you seem a bit too biased towards the autos! Are you trying to make yourself feel as though you made
the right decision going to an auto! But yes you have made some good points.

Bought a truck with 80's series front axel housing that had been shaved,
but no drain plug put in. Got some water in the diff oil and need to drain
it.
Just wondering if someone could recommend the best way to drain
the diff oil without a drain plug.
Thanks!

Awesome replys... thanks heaps :) I am after some more in high range as I do a bit of beach work and need the high range to really sing. Havent given the low range a good work out since the 35's so i may still be unhappy with that too on the hills... but in the mud and light hills its fine. I think ...

Just fitted up some 35's to my 80's range rover and high range is now very sluggish.
Low range still seems not too bad.
Can anyone recommend a fix for me please
I have been recommended possibly gears from a defender transfer case?
