ARB sell the original "Hi-Lift" as their "ARB Hi-Lift Jack" http://www.arb.com.au/hi-lift-jack.php I got the 4' 1.3m high lift from ARB, seemed liek the right price ($150 or $159) . I figured an extra $30 or $40 more than a generic china brand high lift jack was worth it. No one in Melbourne (TJM ...

They are a tube type tyre.

It has been suggested a few times they may have been fitted using the wrong compound like you say.

Will investigate further and attempt to clean the bead too.

Following on from my thread http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic142448.php I would like to get any general advice regarding what size tubes should be fitted in tyres and how it might effect things wiht undersize tubes. Also any thoughts on why my tyres are rotating on the rim at 25psi and what ...

Simo,

Do you know what size tubes you were running?

The ones the tyre place installed for me are 7.0/7.5 x 16 however talking to my local tyre bloke he reckons they are too small.

This could be why the tyre was rotating on the rim.

Any thoughts?

Simo, thanks for your reply. I will have to experiment with lower pressures then and keep an eye on it. At least they aren't hard to pop off the rim and reset the tube placement if it does rotate. I had heard of people grooving the centre rib and definately something im considering.. Shakes, I guess ...

It doesn't matter that much which way round you read it, just notice it starts from the centre and works it way outwards.

Or fuse. Took a little bit to track down this as the cause of my alternator stopping at wonnagatta.

From what we worked out, the trace wire went through the fuse block.

You need a multimeter and wiring diagram to determine if the alternator is charging or if it is a wiring issue.

Pretty sure he wants to know the exact width of the tyre fitted to whatever width rims the patrol has. Perhaps you could specify the rim width and post in the general section to get an answer? I guess the tyre shop told you it would be around 285mm. If it helps (which it doesnt really) my new ...

Don't turn it. Thats such a stupid idea, when they're built, they're balanced. And if you go changing it, you're going to throw the balancing out. You can check for yourself, if you open it up, check the back of the wheels they should have gouge marks from where they are balanced. So basically ...

New tyres arrived today, MT 117s. http://members.optusnet.com.au/~julian_s/patrol/IMG_0814.jpg Since the golden rule is to not spend more on any mod than you did on the actual car, I couldnt buy a 5th tyre for the spare. Time for some new (or 2nd hand perhaps) 35's for my MQ.
