I just did my clutch in an 88 hilux and having done many clutches in the past, and never in a workshop, I thought this would be an easy task. ( at a mates workshop with full use of hoists tools lifts etc ) If someone can do it for a few hundred dollars for god sake let them do it ! I am glad I did ...

Cheers for the replies so far. I mainly use it for camping and road etc. I run 33's maxxis muddy things. But I do a bit of 4wd still, though I am very light on the pedal and look after my 88 lux as good as I can. Are lockers cheaper from the states and if so what is a good option and what sites can ...

Hilux locker?
Sorry I know this topic has been smashed, but each post I have read turns out to be a slug fest between people on manual vers air and lokka vers ARB etc.. So please keep this simple. I don't want to spend much money on my 88 2.4d hilux. But I want to actually get somewhere when I three wheel. What ...

I drove 400k's on my front dif only. Bent up my rear shaft so bad I had to take it off just to move the car. Decided to drive it home on the front. Only damage ( that I know of ) was that the power steering box now leaks. Just got hot that's all. So I am assuming, as long as your front dif isn't ...

I have an 88 dual cab lux with a 2.4 diesel. Lately I have been noticing that when I let the clutch out fast I get this little screech sound. I am concerned that it maybe the clutch on it's way out. I am off to cruiser park with my 2yr old son in a months time and don't want it fail on me. Anyone ...

Any other info ? Do you have a second battery ? If so is it in the front or rear ? If you don't have a dual battery ( deep cycle ) that 3 way fridge isn't designed especially for 12v so it will run your main battery down in like an hour possibly. ( my old mans chescold did. ) So you just running off ...

Interesting. My aux battery is a 75 amp hr. Total amps going to be used from that aux bat is no more than 15amps/hr ( that is including an initial 5-10amp spike from the fridge starting up, and 2 spotties that get turned on every now and then. ) As long as the 20amp breaker can handle the charging ...

circuit breaker, what size ?
Sorry if this has been covered but I want to know asap. The jaycar guy just sold me a 20amp circuit breaker for my dual battery setup. My maximum draw should only be around 15amps ( with a couple of lights and a fridge ). I was about to put this between the isolator and the aux battery, but I see ...

I just searched for this topic and found some info. ( I always get excited and post before I search ) Bus bar is what I meant. 6 port Fuse box
I have just installed a 2nd battery in the rear of my hilux. I have some ciggy plugs in the rear now also. Should I fuse the ciggy plugs ? Should I fuse everything ? If I do fuse them, should I run a wire for each plug to the fuse box, or use one of them bars ( I forget the name ) with the screws in ...

I also run a 32litre engel. But to update things, I emailed Matson about it and they swiftly replied with a nice understanding email. They said " Your alternator will have no problem keeping up with your 2 batteries, it should put out around 14V- 14.4V. It’s also a good idea to give the auxiliary b ...

Do I have to install a circuit breaker in a dual bat setup ?
I just installed a dual battery setup in my hilux. The aux battery is in the tray at the back. My question is,... 1. Do I need to install a circuit breaker/fuse to the battery ? 2. If so, do I need to install one for each battery, and how big should they be ? 3. What about fuses for other 12v ...

I thought there may have been a circlip or something holding the fan onto the shaft. But even if you got the actual fan off, not sure if you could grease the bearing or not. Try spraying the bearing assembly with wd40, see if it makes a difference. wd40 is thinner than lanotec etc so try it first ...
