I have managed to find out that the body was made by Superior Engineering in 7/1982 (the vehicle was made 3/82).
Has anyone heard of them? I've googled them but didn't come up with much. Just a few dead links.

Hints?

The body is all steel. Its a ute cab that has been extended. The rear corners have been moved back but the rear wall still sits behind the drivers seat. The cab behind the seats is a plain bit of folded steel, or come to think of it, it could be ally (I'll go check). The rear doors are factory 40 ...

Dual Cab Ute 40 series

G'day. I just bought a dual cab ute 40. I fell in love with em a few years back and have seen a few around, so when a local bloke had one up for sale with a 1hz, garrett turbo and a 78 series running gear (including coil front end) I couldn't knock it back. Now I want a bit of background info. I was ...

Sierra diff ratios

My mates Spookey is running 32 muddies and runs way too fast on rocks. He already has rock-hopper t-case in it, but wants to drop the diff ratio coz he can't even use 5th gear on the highway at 110 (it just dies and has to drop back to 4th). Any suggestions. We've toyed with the Hi-lux or Patrol ...

That sounds pretty expensive. As much as owning a stocker like that would be, they seem pretty rare, and that mean hard to find and expensive. I have seen two of the modified numbers before and looking at it quickly, I found the body mounts should be pretty close. If any one knows anything about ...

Dual Cab Ute Forty Series?!?

G'day. I'm getting keen to build a dual cab forty series ute. This would involve pulling a ute or troopy of a long wheel base chassis and swaping it with a shorty body, then ading a small try to the remaining rails. I've only seen it done twice before and was wondering if anyone had done it or knows ...

G'day Is there a chance that it is a toyota Stout or something like that. They look pretty similar to the forty from a distance, but are a bit smaller, kinda like a zook. I'm pretty sure they came as utes. The only other thing I can think of is a Forty ute body mounted onto a shorty chassis (a very ...

40 series petrol/diesel donk swap

G'day. Am interested in pulling a 2f donk out of a shorty forty and putting in a B (3l 4cyl) diesel in its place. I was wondering if the exahust mounts the same to the manifold or if I had to replace the exahust as well. Also, does the four speed box from the petrol motors bolt on to the diesel donk ...

60 Bits in a forty

G'Day My old man is wrecking a 60 series cruiser. There are a few of lifes little luxuries under his car that I would like to put in mine. I was wondering if: A 4-speed box (came out of a 1983 hj60 with 2h donk) would fit into a 1980 bj40 with a b (3 litre) motor. My box is a 4-speed and I'm pretty ...

G'day.
Don't understand what you mean by lift the steering column up. Lift the bit in the fire wall or where?

Also, If you lift the box, does that mean that the castor angles would be out of whack (i'm getting plates made up anyway, I'll just change the angle)

Cheers

Damn BJ40 given my grief again. HELP PLEASE!

G'day. got a few troubles with my BJ. 1. Transfer case won't go from hi-4 back to hi-2. 2. Edic motor isn't activating when I hit the key. Can't find any blown fuses. 3. Wheels are scrubing in the the guards. How many blocks/bolts do I need for body lift, how do I fix steering, do I need caster ...

Hey fellas. I'm sick to death of my 33" BFG AT's scrubbing in the guards of my BJ (long live the 3ltr). I'm keen to a 2-3 inch bodylift in. Firstly, a question for BJ on Roids. Is it possable to run a 60 series steering box without all the power-steering non-sense that goes with it. If yes, would ...

33/12.5/15 under 40

I've got a 1980 BJ with 33/12.5/15's. They do scrub, but only when the going gets fairly rough, and only very slightly. I've got ARB A14 springs under mine, but they have been modifyed (shh) and the guards are bent down slightly, so it's probably about the same height difference. I would suggest a ...
