Just got my roll cage mod plated yesterday, talk about leaving it to the last minute! Only a few days left to the end of April now.
Had an interesting chat to the engineer about the rule change, asked what about the mine vehicles that will require A pillar cages. He said that the mines are getting ...

Re: GQ patrol accelerator getting stuck
Yes it will still be doing it on LPG, it controls the throttle blades. It slows the throttle blades down just before they're fully shut. Sounds like your issue is the dashpot taking too long to fully close the throttle blades.

Could be a malfunctioning Dashpot
When you step off the gas pedal the dashpot slows the closing of the throttle, like a shock absorber. Sounds like your dashpot is too slow/sticky

Re: GQ twin shocks
why???? why not get the correct shock??
Why??? the answer is very simple, it's budget. i can't afford afford the "correct" shock and by correct shock I'm assuming you mean something like a triple bypass fox shock that might stand a chance of keeping 2.2 tons of patrol under control when you're ...

GQ twin shocks
Does anyone have photos of a twin shock setup in the front and/or rear of a GQ/GU?
I'm going to attempt this in the next few weeks and after some ideas so i don't have to re-invent the wheel.
Thanks

Hey thanks that would be great, could you post a pic of what the back of the box looks like and if it's not too much trouble would you mind counting the splines on the output shaft? Thanks!

Strange question about GQ 5 speed
What does the back of a gq 5 speed look like once you've unbolted the transfer? Is there an output shaft poking out with an oil seal? Can a yoke be put on and the gearbox used in a 2wd application?

Re: dash light indicates "stabilizer is Off"
If you have a lift kit and you have not got lengthened sway bar links then the sway bar will often not click back into place easily just by driving. Best way is as mentioned above, lie under the car and push it up by hand until it clicks back into place. Then the light will go out on the dash

how to adjust steering box?
Hey guys,
I've got play in my steering and I've narrowed it down to the steering box (you can wriggle the steering wheel a couple of inches either way and the steering shaft turns into the steering box without the pitman arm moving)
Is adjusting the play out of the steering box something that can ...

Is it possible to brace it? I have braced mine to the other side of the chassis in a GQ. I know from competing in outback challenges years ago this is what everyone was doing or they did tear the chassis apart. If its braced i don't think you need the bolt on nissan strengthening brace.

Try doing a search
But it will be things like wheel balance, wheel bearings, any of your suspension bushes, loose body lift bolts.

Are you sure? If an engine has a total final drive ratio of 1:1 (for example) and one wheel locks up, I do not see how the other wheel is going suddenly start spinning twice as fast, unless engine RPM also were to change.

yes but I think if you locked up one front wheel on an open diff in 4wd then the other front wheel will now have to spin twice as fast due to the diff action?Mrowka wrote:Diffs would be locked together, but the individual wheels are not locked to the diffs (unless you have lockers in).
