there is lots of information on what you are asking and a search will provide you with your answers. I just did a search on the term toy conversion and came up with 58 pages of results. Here are a couple of relevant ones that you may find enlightening. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?f=6 ...

Re: Hello Outer Limits 4x4

A 4WD club I used to be a member of & cant wait to join again really needs you to have the BIG rubber as almost every1 is running 37's & over my old ride I used 36" Simex centrepedes & I was the smallest on most trips. The size of your weener is not measured by the size of your tyres. Just remember ...

Re: Hello Outer Limits 4x4

anything is possible, it just depends on how much money you want to spend. IMHO you dont need 37's on a rover and 35's will do you fine unless you want to do something like tt. To run 35's factor in diff ratio changes, bigger axles, stronger diff centres and stronger CV's. Put all that together and ...

Re: hdj100R or vdj200r

so how many km's is too many. I know it is like asking how long is a piece of string (but there is an answer) I've seen a couple of well kitted 100's but they have 230 - 250,000 km. There are others around with about 150,000 km and even one or two down at the 100,000 mark. So adding up the cost of F ...

hdj100R or vdj200r

Have recently sold my rover and was looking at replacing it with a cruiser and in particular the hdj100r. I have noticed however that I can get a VDJ200R with the same or less k's for about the same price (and in some cases cheaper) than the 100 series. So is the 100 that much better than the 200 or ...

Re: Things to look for in a series 1 Disco

 yep. early D1's had 10 spline axles. From mid 94 the upgraded to 24 spline. A slightly stronger axle but not enough to cope with 35's. The diffs are 2 pinion with 3.54 ratio's in both.

If your going to run 35's dump the diffs and axles.

they get a bit of rust around the alpine windows but as said it is the same as a range rover. Back lash wasn't a real big issue for them. That was more common with the lt95 gearbox in the old range rovers.

Re: wanted info on kermit the rangie

Kermit was originally an old 2 door rangie - I think a 79 model and was dark green. It was reincarnated as a ute using my old 82 4 door rr when it also changed to a much lighter green. After it's first event in one of Metcalf's comp's in qld the ute body was dumped in favour of a tray. Eventually it ...

as swamp said.

A new indicator switch should fix the issue if the old one can't be repaired.

from memory also if you decide to put the indicator stalk on the wrong side of the steering column (in this case being the right hand side of the steering column) then the cancel mechanisim wont work also

The only thing I would say is that it looks like the bar work over the roof lights may well catch lots of tree branches.

Re: Engine is comin out. Rebuild or upgrade?

if you want cheap i suggest you rebuild your engine with a aftermarket cam and maybe some porting this will both increase power and effiency. i would steer away from the 304 only because it is cast iorn and would ingrease the weight over your steering axle. i'm troying with the idea of the 4.6 into ...

Re: Engine is comin out. Rebuild or upgrade?

budget rules out engine conversion as they always cost $$$. rebuilding with a 4.6 block isn't cheap either but everything will bolt straight up and look standard to mr plod. The 4.6's have been known to slip liners so you have to make sure your cooling system is top notch. More HP and torque ...

To remove a tyre from a rim you have to push the tyre sidewall in towards the centre. To mount a tyre to a rim the tyre sidewalls have to push out to create a seal. The wider the rim the further out the tyre sidewalls are pushed before they make contact with the rim and create a seal. Conversly the ...

A narrow rim will help reduce the incidence of popping beads at low pressures.

I ran 34 x 10.5 JT2 on 7 inch rims and had no problem with beads breaking even at 8 psi.

So if they fit I would put them on an 8 inch rim.
