Diff ratio swap?

Is it possible to change from a 4.875 front diff (NH 3.0 v6 5 speed manual)
to a 5.285 front diff ( 2.5 Diesel )

Wanting to change (lower) ratios for better gearing for larger tyres.

Have read tech bible, but not very sure on the business of the splines.

Cheers

Diff ratio change over in NH.

I have NH with 3.0 V6 and 5 speed manual box. Can I fit the diff lock and front diff from a 2.5 diesel into the above mentioned vehicle.Diff ratio is 5.285. And if I could what changes if any would I be in for. The idea being dropping the over all ratio to suit larger fitted tyres. As well as gaining ...

The weakest link in the system (for leaks) is the bags that push down on the rear springs. The weakness of the system is that you can't get too rough on them , the rear bags have been known to let go with harsh treatment. The front torsion bars cylinders give no trouble that I have herd of ...

Thanks for the replies gents, but tell me did you take the transfer lever off the top of the gear-box before you applied your remedy's. I think there is three or so little bolts that bolt the ball and socket arrangement together on the transfer lever. Would I be right in saying that this is the way ...

When I did our body lift, we had the lever replaced and bent with a bit of heat so as not to cut damage or hit the metal of the body and the plastic of the console. If done right, the body stays factory and you only heat and bend the two levers. If you do replace the gearbox lever with a longer and ...

Transfer lever mods when body lifting?

I have a 91 shorty that I have body lifted to 45mm above normal. I then found it won't go into 2wd. After taking the plastic console off around the gear levers I found the transfer lever fouling on the body slightly so I have managed to fix that but now I find that the plastic console fouls it. So ...

btw i put hydraulic jack fluid into it, it took around 500ml, and now the ride height controller works a charm :P mark That's great but does that mean you have a leak. I guess it will show up sooner or later. Because the system uses steel pipes and not flexible pipes they stay oil tight for longer ...

I'm the author of the hydraulic suspension system desription in WTF reply. It would be a lot easier if I could up load a drawing I have on the subject but I will try to describe, There is only three reasons for it not to go up. 1.
