Re: TD42 Diesel Waterwetter? Anyone Using

Yeah I use it in a TD42 Nic, can't say it makes any difference to temps it reaches, BUT it recovers noticeably quicker when, say, you come over the top of a hill with camper in tow, and it's crept up a bit on the temp. Comes back down quicker than before, so can't be a bad thing.

Re: LED Brake Lights - Residual Current?

BA Falcons do the same thing; just wire a load resistor in parallel fixes it, the type you would use to stop indicators flashing too fast when replacing globes with LEDs.

Airlock in VDJ cooling system

Got a problem with a V8 diesel VDJ79R 2011 Landcruiser cab/chassis, had to R&R radiator and now cannot get airlock out of cooling system. According to diagram on air box you need to remove air bleed valve (top of radiator, no prob), filler cap (no prob), and "engine cap" (big prob - hasn't got one ...

Just be aware there are two rebuild kits you need; the brake service kit with the clutch material and new ballbearings and spring and stuff (p/n 8409) and also the lower housing service kit which has the drum shaft seal etc (p/n 8680), you can also get them from any 4wd shop that deals with Ateco ...

I also use a PWR rad, mine is natural TD42 but have replaced the clutch, hoses, 77* tridon high flow thermostat, and flushed the sh1t out of it but still gets over half on a hot day, let alone with air con on. If it's hot enough to need air con, it's too hot to use the ShortyIQ thing if I have ...

The tapers are different in the rod ends, so you need to change the one at the steering box end.

I use a snake steering arm, so just ordered a GU end to replace the GQ one.

As the pivot on the passenger's side moves it will pull that side of the diff back toward the rear of the car, you would need to chop a lot more out of your guards to clear your tyres if they were already fairly close with your previous arms. I would get your batteries load tested, any sparky or battery place can do it for you in a couple of minutes, you may find one or both is getting a little unhealthy. The solenoids you use won't make any difference, they just let the current flow to the appropriate place. Other possibility is that ...

I don't think using the patrol unit would work, the resistances that tell the guage what to show are likely to be different. You would need to get the patrol guage, connect it to the wiring for the zook, hold guage fully up then fully down and see what it shows on dash. If it works, great. If not ...

OK in the lower thermostat housing there are TWO plugs... the Gregory's manual says the small one (toward the front) is the temp sender unit, so what is the larger one at the rear for????? I'm told the factory temp guage is notoriously innaccurate, only 3 or 4 degrees moves it from a quarter to ...

A good idea also to make sure the brushes move nice and freely, tape them up and spray the motor with anti-fungal red oxide varnish. Make sure the motor drain is free, if not die grind it a little bigger, can't hurt. Make sure for that matter the drain hole is pointing down in your application ...
