Re: Hydro Handbrake
I am assuming this is for offroad only? I have in my head that emergency braking systems ("handbrake") must be entirely mechanical and cable operated. Not sure where I read it, but i know I have read it in a vehicle standard somewhere. Plan B Fit a secondary calliper assembly to the rear. It wouldn ...

Did it stop suddenly or lost power gradually over 100m or so?
First would generally indicate ECU or injection drive failure, second would generally indicate fuel pump/fuel pressure issues.
Any more information available?

A little bit baffled by what's up with my 5L hilux motor. It's been running a turbo for around 5 years with no dramas. This year I've noticed that the rocker cover vent hose has been venting a hazy oily smoke that wasn't there previously. The gas seems to pulse out of the vent hose at around 1 ...

Try your fuel filter then drain the fuel tank (usually a drain plug at the bottom of the tank) If it's been sitting in a car yard for an extended period of time with a 1/4 full tank of fuel, you have probably picked up some condensation/grit/sludge that has travel down to the filter once you ...

Check you ignition requirements too, the EFI usually handles the ignition from a Hall effect sensor on the distributor spindle - may not be compatible with the GQ's ignition system.

Asking a very basic question, but have you taken an earthstrap from the radiator direct to the engine , and not simply to the chassis? Contrary to most opinion, the biggest, fattest earth wire goes direct from the battery to the engine to act as a return for the starter. All chassis and frame earths ...

Re: Cold thermostat forcing fluid out the overflow bottle?
Could be a leaking cyl-waterjacket headgasket too. May close itself up due to thermal expansion as the engine gets warm, but in the interim pressurise the coolant enough to blow coolant out of the overflow bottle. This could explain why the overflow bottle may not cope with the "expansion" of ...

A bit of lateral thinking would place 2 CVT mirrored over each "axle" (not quite accurate, but to give location), 1 CVT per wheel. Both CVT's could track each other for the gross movement of ratios and you could tweak the individual ratios for a differential type effect.. Doing this for all 4 ...

Have a lookthrough the sections here on the different makes and models and when you have something more concrete formulated come back again. The question you have asked is too big and too vague. There would not be one vehicle that you could discount in your given selection criteria.
