Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
Know exactly what you are talking about from the wife's old corolla, but have not had the same problem with the Hdj79 and Hdj100 that ive spent a lot of time in. Assumed it was an electronics issue too, but didnt justify screwing with for the issues.

Wasn't that fixed for the 2002 model on? I've still never heard of anyone towing in 5th low though. Thats a recipe for problems.

ive only seen the starters on the old cruisers, which have a cast plate held on by 3 screws sitting directly above the actual motor. I can only imagine the plate fell off.

Re: gu ute petrol tank vent
Sounds funny that the tank pressurizes but fuel still comes out. I have the 2002 GU and the main tank has the vent blocked with dust I think. Has vacuum problems and pressure problems which i can hear taking the cap off after a long drive & trying to transfer fuel between the tanks. Cleared the ...

Re: GQ wont reverse
Thanks, Ill have a look tomorrow. Ive done it before, so dont need a manual, just really hoping its the brake. Was a bit discouraging that its jammed on so tight that i get no movement at all in reverse, but forwards was still somewhat ok. i wouldnt be surprised if its full of ice.

GQ wont reverse
Hi team, Lent my GQ that I haven't had for very long to a local who got it bogged and generally treated it poorly over a weekend, and now i can't get it to reverse at all. Im pretty sure the handbrake is frozen on because it stops pretty fast after rolling forwards, but when i put it in reverse the ...

you might see a couple of litres/hundred improvement with a tune, but i wouldnt be holding out for much, especially with the 35s.
put it back on standard splitties, or 31s and you will see a massive improvement. Maybe even down to the 22 you used to get.
Maybe.

i forgot to tighten mine once, and it fell out on the highway. lost heaps of fuel before i even noticed. Turns out its a standard thread, and you dont really need the real part. Readily available from your local toyota parts place as it is, if you can find something that fits, as long as its quite ...

This might work, however after owning a different model OPEK, im not sure id class them in the same league as what you expect from GME, RFI Industries etc. I take mine off when driving so it doesnt break itself off. Not difficult fitting a BNC plug to it, but i'm really not sure you would be super ...

Re: Water to air system on GU ute
I was told it does, but i'm no expert. Both end tanks appear to heat up during use, so something must be getting to the other end. Its just a standard plazmaman kit.

I just put the radiator horizontally just behind the rollbar, seems to work ok. Doesnt get the automatic airflow yet, but im working on a scoop, if just to make sure things falling out of trees dont damage the fins. I had a long think about under the tray, and as a cutout on the headboard like ...

denco certainly give you all the bits which make it just bolt on. I just finished putting a plazmaman one on, which looks like a rectangular denco. I believe the denco ones are rebranded PWR also, just denco also supply the bits in a vehicle specific kit. Never actually seen a denco one installed ...

Re: Dash Lights Suddenly on
it does sound like the alternator, but it might not be the alternator which is bad. Just check that the front main pulley is actually spinning at the same rpm as the engine. If the key on the crank has snapped from overloading if bits of your ac tensioner caught up in the belts, then your front ...

gee ive loved having super-oscars for the last 15 years. Seem to be the only type that make a really nice "driving beam" pattern which has a bit of spread and spot for each reflector. Had a few different lights too, but not lightforce yet.

Re: wiring up spotlights with HID headlights
First problem would be that there arent too many spotlights on the market which use the h4 globe setup. If by chance your's are h4, and they already have the wiring for high and low, then lucky you. Relay on and normal switch between the two. But for a spotlight you will probably only need the ...

Re: nissan 4.2 diesel or toyota 4.2 diesel
ive got a td42-t, 12ht and 2h and driven plenty of 1hz, and really sorry to nissan, and it could just be extra weight or something of the like in the car, but the nissan seems to need the turbo to bring it up to the drive-ability of the 1hz. The 12ht is just streets ahead of both even though its 15 ...

Re: BJ40 brake problems
the canister thing is the vacuum canister like you expected. There realy isnt all that much to do with brakes, so if you arent actually loosing any fluid, it has to be either still air trapped in the master cylinder, or the master is passing fluid past the seals somehow. Id still go with air. tried ...

not a bad read,
235/85r16 is the new version of 7.50r16, they should be so close to the same size that you wouldnt tell the difference apart from the letters on the side. I always liked the skinny tyres for winding between spiky tyre puncturing bushes.
cheers

really? 300k out of 80 litres? that has to be an exaggeration of some sort? Im waiting to put the intercooler in mine before a tune, and untuned i get to 550C only in 4th up long steep hills, but still thought economy was bad at 17litres loaded per hundred on sand trips. Most people with normal ...

UHF is a great allrounder that just about everyone has, but its line of sight only and gets generally 30k max without propagation. 27Mhz CB will go about 7k line of sight, but depending on how well its set up, can transmit/receive hundreds of k at the right times with propagation. Likewise the big ...

i believe a lot of the time, if the injectors noticeably need cleaning, then the nibs on them may be to the point they need replacing, and usually need the springs re-tensioned to spec anyway. So just running cleaner through them, or manually pulling them to bits wont show a whole lot unless you ...
