Re: RA V6 engine swap to diesel
Yeah still haven't gone ahead. I couldn't find any info but I am sure if i bought a whole wreck most things should swap over. Whats wrong with the engine in your car? We bought the RA from the auctions with a tool box on the back for work but it obviously hadn't been well serviced and it drinks oil ...

Re: Buying power tools from O/S
For buying chargers locally if you have a Total Tools close they advertised their brand of charger to suit all the big name cordless tool companies. I looked at the hitachi charger for my tools and the charger is identical to my australian charger with Total Tools sticker on it. Just a way of not ...

Re: Budget Rocky Winch challenge truck
Just wondering what you are going to do about engineering for the CCDA rules for challenge class or have I just read into the rules too much? This sort of slowed me down a bit as engineering in SA is hard to get done and expensive compared to the eastern states.

Re: GQ petrol gearbox into GU diesel
Just worked this out the hard way to, trying to put a gq gearbox in my mates GU. Any chance some one has a picture of the top of the gearbox from a GU to see if there is any chance of swaping over the top selector hat between the two? We have pulled the box back out and removed the gq selector but ...

I was running hilux diffs and had no vibration problems at all. The only thing i can think of is did you make sure the diff pinion flange and the transfer case flange are parallel? Im not sure if this would cause low speed problem tho? I was strugling with flex as well but it was mainly to do with ...

Turbo kit for 2.8
Ring Bill at Turbo tech for a price. With turbo tech they will set your car up properly on the dyno and the 2.8 responds really well to a turbo not only power wise but normally better fuel economy as well. Mind you they are pretty busy. The Denco kit comes with a schwitzer turbo and is a good kit ...

80s Power steering box
Have been quoted about $800 change over for my power steering box on my 93 80 series and think this is crazy since the seal kit is about $40. Has anyone rebuilt a power steering box and did they have any trouble? What do I have to look out for and are there any special tools needed.

Locka
I work at 4WD systems in SA where they manufacture their own locka they charge max $350 to install that is removing and refitting the centre and its not going to take much more to do the seals so $500 might be a bit rich. 35" tyres
If you swap to hilux diffs at the same time with the standard 4.8s ratio or whatever they are 35s will be perfect. I have 33s with spoa hilux diffs and the top speed is about 90kmh comfortably you can push it to 100 but you start chewing the diesel.
