Only problem with lifting them up is the CV's go in about 10,000kms im told... I had the 2" lift and replaced the driveshafts once (complete units), and popped 3-4 of DOJ's (inners) in about 180 000 km of mostly abuse. It's the DOJ's that usually cop the abuse, cracking along the grooves from the ...

Owned a 87 Lada niva for 4 years. weak points I discovered were the steering box. cracked 2. idler arm bushes. carry a bag of them because they don't last long. Istalled a 2 inch lift 2 clear 215's on vitara rims. Broke the rear diff. did 2 gearboxes and one cv. Starter needed rebuilding. Changed ...

WaveCult, Personally, I feel the Lada is the better stock 4wd, particularly on-road. Fitted with the Russian "knobby" tyres they're also great in the bush. Standard tyre is a 175/80x16 (limited options) but they also fitted an optional 195/80x15. I've got a set of 215x15 Motorway GroundHogs that ...

Hmmmm... am begining to look at the possibility of a Sierra or Niva in the future, just have to figure out what's going to be most cost effective. Any issues with front diffs on the Nivas? (my auto Grand Vitara's gone through 2) also, on average how often does the alignment of the transfer case need ...

Will I get hit over the head for posting a pic I took of your rig Gary? Taking into consideration that my GV's gone through 2 front diffs and diff housings in the past year (ie. spent most of the last year in 2wd as a result), I quite enjoyed watching the Kia "get up stuff" without breaking diffs

Re: Air Flow Meter - Vitara EFI Engine

Folks, What's the go with the Air Flow Meter on a Vitara EFI? I get the impression that they don't come with them and need some sorting or something along those lines? Fill me in please. Thanks. The 1.6 in my GV has an airflow meter... so I am guessing so would the more recent Vitaras (same engine ...

Not sure about that one, all the early ones are alloy to my knowlege. Only GV manuals have Steel ones.. I smashed my pinion housing to bits and then got a whole front axle from a 2002 GV and fitted it up. No problems now and I have been giving it heaps. (but only with locker engaged) I reckon an ...

Vits spit diffs because of an oil feed galley that is like a little tube moulded into the casting. It's job is to feed oil fom the main pumpkin area to the pinion bearing. ( the bearing nearest the drive shaft ). The front diff mount (on the side of the diff ) is like a tag that sticks out to the ...

I fitted a set to the rear of my Rocky a few years back. Being leaf sprung, the set came with its own pair of dinky coil springs to retain the bags. Re: Vitara and GV front Diffs Cracking?

Sell it now before it just tips over for no reason I have witnesses (no, seriously, the plastic clips that hold the bumper up broke from the weight of the Unibar, miniature driving lights and snatch strap) As for rolling over for no reason, if it ever happens all fingers will be pointing at you!

a bumper and a front diff in as many weeks, you really need to treat that thing more gently Luis. (Kind of like the way i treat mine) Come on Steve, you've seen me drive! you know I'm gentle! Besides you were there when the bumper literally just fell to the ground without touching anything... that ...
