Re: oil pump gq

I've got a set of billet oil pump gears for a 4.8 that I never used, Pm me. It's a common issue when the rev limiter is raised, superchargers can also place additional shock loads on the crank nose and pump gears.

They have a tendency to crack, the larger outlet may reduce the heat retained in the chamber and help with the cracking.

Get the engine to operating temperature, create a vacuum leak, sizeable, like remove the booster hose, the engine will rev and gradually slow till the IAC winds fully in, disconnect the IAC plug (4 pin) and reconnect the hose, the vehicle may stall. Restart if necessary and adjust the idle stop ...

I thought they were same same? How are they bigger? If they are deeper/longer then that is normal as the machinist will surface them to the correct height.

Re: 5L Hilux turboing

If it takes a chip it is a 5LE, if not then it is a 5L, goes without saying I guess. We use Rapid chips as they have the ability to be tuned by us for maximum performance while maintaining safe EGT's, it's not a generic tune suited to another vehicle as with most chips.

With a lot of systems you can pull the ABS fuse. Sometimes have to do this on some cars on the 4wd dyno.

Re: GQ AUTO strong enough for turbo??

It won't last in stock form. Kewish in Dandenong probably do more of these than most, speak to them. If you are planning on big numbers and high boost then the later GU box is a stronger starting point allthough your EFI box is stronger than the carby one.

Re: TB42e Throttlebody coolant bypass

There was a thread on this some time ago. The main purposes is to make the throttle less sensitive at light throttle by warming the air at low air speed, and to improve combustion and hence emissions at light throttle as warm air aids fuel vapourization at low air speed, it has little or no effect ...

Go for aftermarket management if you want a comp truck. Iv'e done a few of these and when tuned with a big exhaust and big throttle body they make a good 30 kW more than stock. If you have a test light check for power, safety switches are known for failure, this is where the lock off gets its power. The solemoid does generally just come off. If you have a multimeter you can check the winding, it shoud be about 13 ohm from memory. If you are in Mornington I might be able to ...

Re: Cavitation problems in water to air intercooler setup?

I didn't read the entire thread so if this has been said ignore me. The issue is due to PWR not having a header tank. Get a header tank made the size of a coke can with the outlet at the bottom and the return 3/4 of the way to the top. This allows air to escape and for you to bleed the thing without ...

Re: diesel petrol injection, anyone done it?

Petrol injection is very much the same as LPG, you would need to use 98 octane to get any decent substitution and like lpg there are issue. The biggest is pre ignition due to excessive amounts of LPG/petrol. If the diesel injection is not 100%, injectors and alike then the issues get worse as hot ...

Re: Front Mount or Water to Air

Beware many of the water to air coolers aren't worth a pich of salt. You need one important thing for an intercooler to work, surface area. Large surface area mean low air speed and more time for the heat to transfere. Small cylinder water to air coolers are poor performers.

Personally I'd only bother with the cam a if I were doing a rebuild, the output acheivable without a cam is realistically above the safe capacity of a stock engine, do the cam when you build the engine for big.

If you are getting Bilstiens then get German ones, yellow. I tried the 5100 and they couldn't even be revalved due to the way they were assembled, it would have required shortening them. The valving for my JK was so bad I got my money back. Lucky I used an Australian supplier.

Not that it is likely to matter on a diesel as they barely need a wastegate, but on big HP petrol engines the angle of the wastegate is important, I have seen first hand where on a VL turbo that had overboost issues with a 48mm wastegate was rectified by adjusting the angle on the wastegate to the ...
