Hey, Thanks for the help everyone. Drivesafe got me thinking about my driving habbits which are often short trips and most likely the reason for the lack of substantive charge in the batteries. I also discovered a few more things since I've been testing: SC40 cuts in and out exactly as it should and ...

Warm battery isolator

Hi All, My batteries are going flat after about 7 days of not driving my vehicle, all the accessories are off during this time. Now I've noticed the SC40 (battery isolator) is warm to touch, it feels a couple of degrees above ambiant. Is this the likely reason my batteries are loosing voltage or is ...

This may not meet Firesticks requirements, its based on a switch as mentioned above. I picked up a regulated voltmeter from ebay for about $20 and wired it via a SPDT toggle switch to the batteries. The roof console in the cruiser turned out to be a great location. I like having the precise voltage ...

Landcruiser ACSD Removal

I thought I would share with the group my experience with the ACSD (Assisted Cold Start Device) on my 80s cruiser 1HDT. The cold starting leaver on the fuel pump had a very loud clicking/rattle when the engine was cold. Pulling my hand on the leaver or moving it manually stopped the noise. After 5 ...

I doesnt look very good.
Dont tell me your problems :D

I thought about using screws alone but the gauges are a tight fit and I didnt want to hit any screw heads. It certainly is rock solid with the hose clamps but I take the point its not everyones version of visual ‘bling’.[/quote]

Okay, job done. Now I wont have to hold the gauges while in a hill climb! Best thing is this cost less than $20  Parts list: 50mm tow ball covers $6 each (Cargo Mate P/N BCIB from Autobarn) Hose clamps $2 each A couple of self tapping screws and a left over bit of split tube. The look on the ...

Gauge pod

Hey all,
Does anybody know if there are pillar pods available for the 80 series? I called Autron but they have not tested their 'universal' model on the 80 series.
Thanks Bucko.

A few months ago we went fishing and left the Labrador boat ramp about 5am not paying much attention to the old surf idling in the car park. We arrived back at the boat ramp at 11am and it was still idling. No keys in the ignition so we presume it was a fault with the turbo timer. As we could easily ...

On my previous 4wd I would mix old engine oil with diesel to get a consistency that would spray well, then get underneath and go for it, repeat annually. Whatever the solution, a thorough wash after beach work is critical.

Turbo squeal

Hey, Was on my way to the shops today and planted my foot in 3rd only to hear some damn awful noise. Its a very loud turbo squeal when under load. I'm getting no boost pressure on the gauge, no turbo lights are coming on, and lacking power. Any ideas whats up with it before I take it to the experts ...
