Get over to a specialist diesel mech, they can do the pump and turbo tune up. Full 3" system including dump pipe. Mine's running 12 psi and at 100 on the M2 the egt is reading 300-350oC. Dyno'd rear wheel 117hp. Awesome difference to driveability, and have noticed bugger all difference in fuel ...

Mine's a 2001 TD42.
I've got a similar noise, although more like a rattle when off the clutch.
Might be time for an oil change.
What is the best oil to use for the manual gearbox in the TD42?

I had the same trouble with a set of Hella 4000's. Changed the earth lead, routed it straight to the battery, problem solved.
