Re: Sidestep / Rock slider bracket question

Thanks fellas, sounds like I'm not too far off then. Was a bit worried that hammer fit might have been too tight. I have been marking the plates when clamped on the chassis, then setting up on the work bench to spot weld and have made up spacers of the required width to keep my spacing whilst ...

Sidestep / Rock slider bracket question

I've started making some sidesteps for my 80 using 40x40x4 for the legs and main step, with 2mm checker floorplate on top. The brackets are 50x8 in a U shape with bolts on top. My question is this: how much clearance should i allow in the bracket to enable easy fitment without making it too loose ...

double clicking. umm, don't know. still central locking, its central locking from switch inside drivers door. can't honestly remember if it works from key on outside, been ages since i tried. pretty sure that key on outside passenger door won't lock/unlock all doors

i've only had a max of 36" tyres on one of my cars, but reckon any more would really be pushing the friendship of braking capacityesp on a 40 series (bar engineering to overcome) and cop magnetism (bar dodgey town/state)

if you flick the switch on inside of ddor then all the doors lock. if you use key in drivers door or passenger door, i'm pretty sure it only locks those doors respective doors only. i may be wrong, had a few beers. hmmm, beer

92 80 series would have been 15" rim 6 stud, so doubt they'll fit a prado. the 80 went to 16" 6 stud couple years later, 100 series replaced them with a 16" 5 stud and then prado's started coming out. my bet is the prado is 16" 5 stud

not 100% certain, very doubtful though

only if absolutely everything goes through the ammeter. this is easier when you only have one battery or they are at least mounted near each other. ideal setup is both, if one only get a voltmeter

voltmeter, just make it a good one with decent accuracy and resolution. my voltmeter is to 2 decimal places, can't remember accuracy but is very very close to my fluke dmm, and it is self powered (ie powered by the circuit it is measuring). ammeter are a bugger to wire in, although wiring a shunt in ...

mine maxs out at 14.45v, give or take a few .01's (have a good digital meter on the dash). 14.8v and above would be doing damage to the battery. oh, and this would be a problem of the regulator as its job is to set the output voltage (may be inside alternator or a external one)
