Re: GU td42 getting hot

When you say hot, what do you mean? Cooked it and had to pull over, or hot on the factory temp gauge. You will find that the gauge doesn't accurately reflect the temp of the engine. I have the same issue with the air con cutting out due to a sensor that I have(now disconnected so I stay cool ...

Re: td42 rebuild options?

Balancing and blueprinting an engine is a lot of work either way. Balancing means machining pistons etc until they weigh the same as well as all of the other moving parts that create inertia. Blueprinting is just going that extra step and is not worth the effort required unless you are talking big ...

Maybe get the internals of the chassis rails sprayed with boiled fish oil or linseed oil. No point on a chassis thats already on it's way out.

That chassis is full of cancer now. Not worth fixing imo. Unless you won't be keeping it and don't intend on giving it a hard time. Better of sourcing a good wreck and using that.

get rid f the boots and put on some seal savers. Used to have them on my dirt bike. Its basically a bit of neoprene that acts like a wiper blade as the shocks compresses cleaning the shock piston/shaft as it does.

Yeah will be fine with low-moderate boost. They are strong engines. Like already stated, get an EGT gauge and keep an eye on things. I suggest getting it properly tuned by a someone who specialises in diesels.

Fit a good aftermarket alarm that comes with its own immobiliser and central locking option/hook up. Then you can have a whole new set of key fobs and get the normal key cut as many times as you like. Thats what I have.

Okay, a few things to look for. cracks at the drivers/front passenger seat mounts/floor. Also under the drivers feet, cracking along the floor pan where it bends up towards the pedals. Will give a clunking sound when stressed and can be mistaken for another well known problem, worn body mounts. they ...

Your vehicle must comply with the relevant states requirements no matter where it's registered. If NSW allowed you to drive a monster truck legally, it doesn't mean you can drive it in Qld. I'm not having a go, just using it as an example. It sounds like they were being a bit rough. I know in QLD it ...

If it stalls then the clutch should be ok. If it runs on a little then its probably on its way out. If ...
