Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

While your engine mounts may be to suit an ls into 3.0 gu and your transfer adapter may be 4l80 to 3.0gu transfer, it may be worth checking that the whole lot is supposed to work together. I did 4l80 and LS into a gq. My rear tailshaft is about 90mm shorter than standard. I'd be supprised if you can ...

As in the title, does anybody know how if 80 series pistons are the same diameter as 100?

Thanks

Re: 80 vs 100 series swivel hubs.

Thanks guys. I've done a bit more research and as mentioned above, swivel hubs are interchangable. So are stub axles but not hubs This means that i will not be able to get the camber change i was after.( it was a long shot anyway) With swivel hubs being interchangable, it means i will be able to ...

80 vs 100 series swivel hubs.

Dear Landcruiser tech heads, I'm putting together a front hybrid landcruiser 80 axle and am looking for some compatibility info regarding the 100 series swivel hub mating to 80 series knuckles. I am locked into using 80 series knuckles and want to use FJ80 Longfields. My question is, can I mate 100 ...

Re: Wheel bearings on a 79 cruiser

On some setups, the inner race of the inner bearing has an extra large fillet, to clear an extra large radius machined between the spindle diameter and face. This is done to reduce the stress concentration. If your bearing is a regular one with a regular fillet, it will not seat up against the face ...

Re: Winchin' motor tech on the up

If i recall correctly, Mal leslie told me in a conversation years ago that a 4.6HP on 12 volt spins to over 10000RPM on the test bench. a 12V 6hp running 24V will be WAY faster than a 4.6. Many comp guys blow up the 6hp warns when run on 24V because the windings cannot hold to the commutator when ...

Re: Custom front bar vs airbags

The testing for airbag compatibility for bulbars is to make sure the airbags do not go off in a small crash. ie hitting a roo on the freeway. Thats why arb etc allow for their bars to slide/give in a crash. This ensures that any small impacts are not transferred in a "sharp" manner which may deploy ...

Re: Snorkel flow rates

The amount of air flowing through your intake will affect the restriction the intake is providing(thats what we're measuring). Hence WOT and a fixed RPM at full load to stabilise and fix the airflow through the intake. Then give the manometer a second or two to stabilise and take your reading.

Re: Snorkel flow rates

Sambo, good spot, my bad. mm H2O is correct. Hey Struth, size, diameter, length, cross sectional area of fittings do not make a difference(when measuring fairly constant pressures). the size of the fitting would affect the rate which the manometer responds to rapidly changing pressures as air must ...

I'll get the ball rolling. Measure the vacuum before the filter, IE in the cavity in the airbox on the snorkel side of the filter.(so we're measuring airbox vacuum, before the filter, not having our results affected by clena/dirty/different brand filters) http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m579 ...

As many have said above, "gut feel" and "seat of pants" is rubbish. Automotive Engineering is that exactly, ENGINEERING "gut feel" and "seat of pants" belongs with astrology, not engineering.
