Re: Hilux 3RZ Engine Conversion
what intake pipe are you using, mine did the same thing because i had the IAC valve plumbed in before the A/F meter so that air wasnt being metered And this is exactly what was happening to mine when first completing the conversion. I'll go out on a limb and say this is exactly the problem if your ...

Re: HD drive shafts for a Daily driver
I'm pretty sure its 95thou, so nearly 2.5mm, not real thick, but much better than the 1.6mm wall thickness that hiluxes/4runners have from factoryrockcrawler31 wrote:I'd be interested to know what the OE wall thickness is on a GU tailshaft.

Re: HD drive shafts for a Daily driver
Yep, definitely give hardy spicer a call... I work for them :D :D In Vic tho. But yeah, when you call, sus out whether they know anything about 4wd's, coz I reckon if someone walked into our branch and asked for a 5mm thick walled shaft, they'd be told they are stupid and it won't be warranted, etc ...

GU vibration after only 2in susp lift??
Hey, Just chasing up an issue with a mates GU. His is an 05 model with the 3lt td engine, 5 spd manual running 285/75/16 muddies. He has recently fitted a 2inch ironman suspension lift and now has bad driveline vibration. The car has only travelled 60000kms from new, and before he bought it, it has ...

Re: 3RZ missing under no load
Mine's doesn't have the expansion chamber, and fuel reg line is run to manifold vacuum, BUT I have a Haltech Interceptor piggyback ecu, and is remapped, so it shouldn't matter what the fuel reg is doing, my fuel maps are adjusted to suit. I guess the problem is if the fuel reg is stuffed, that could ...

Re: RHS size for transfer case crossmember...?
... Since every mob that makes the low profile hilux ones say they don't suit 4runners, I'll be making my own. That might not be right. When I swapped a G52 and transfer case from a solid axle hilux into my 4runner to run crawler gears (the standard transfer is chain drive and no crawler option ...

Re: 3RZ missing under no load
Ha, just noticed something even weirder with mine tonight on the way home. Mine seems to "hit the wall" at 4000rpm, but clears up at around 4700rpm to rev smoothly to the rev limiter... Mine has done this since the conversion, but keeping in mind that mine isn't a stock intake, and the MAF is placed ...

Re: RHS size for transfer case crossmember...?
what thickness sheet metal would you recommend for a skid/bash plate? The plate will cover the transfer case, and a little bit of the tranny. I was thinking 3mm thick? Can you tell us what size tires you have and whether you bash on the rig or just want to get to the good camp spots and back home ...

Re: RHS size for transfer case crossmember...?
Alrighty, got the RHS sorted. Ended up going for a 75x50mm with 4mm wall thickness, looks plenty strong enough for what I'm planning. It won't be a straight piece between the chassis, what I've done is got a piece coming out straight from each side off the chassis, then one length mounted to the ...

Re: 3RZ missing under no load
Hey dillza, I'm going to be of absolutely no use, but just thought I'd chime in and say that I've had exactly the same problem with mine since the 3rz conversion, except my "wall" is at 4000rpm when about 60-70% of the time it has a flat spot, and the rest of the time it will rev out, except mine ...

Re: RHS size for transfer case crossmember...?
Yeah I was afraid the 2.5mm wall might be a bit too thin. It won't be a straight piece of RHS, I was going to notch it where it needed bending and weld it at the bends with extra supports on each bend, but yeah, I didn't really think of how easy it would bend when contacting rocks :D I was going to ...

RHS size for transfer case crossmember...?
I bent my transfer case crossmember on my 4runner a couple of months back, not too bad but got me thinking about making a lower profile one. Since every mob that makes the low profile hilux ones say they don't suit 4runners, I'll be making my own. I've got some 70x25 RHS in 2.5mm thick, do you think ...

3rz throttle body size??
Hi, I've currently got a Gas Research system on my 3rz and am looking at going back to petrol to free up some under bonnet space for compressor and second battery. The prob being the gas research system replaced my throttle body and I don't have the old one. I do have a couple spare commodore ones ...

Re: 3" mandrel exhaust for 1HD-FT - SE Melbs?
I'll throw another name in there, Kelvin from KleenFlo exhausts in Cranbourne. He did my 4runner exhaust, tucked up beautifully, couldn't be happier with the product and service. He also did a mates Patrol with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, also another great job. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Replace G52 with W56 trans
Hey, as the topic says, I'm looking to replace my G52 5speed tranny soon, and was thinking of using the W56 as they are what was originally behind my engine. I've got a 3rz in a 4runner that is bolted to the original G52 which is now growing tired, and with the prospect of a turbo being fitted soon ...

Safari snorkel template needed!
Just got a 2nd hand safari snorkel for a 93 4runner/hilux, but it didn't come with a template. I've asked at the local TJM and ARB but neither have one in stock, and said it would be at least a 3-4 week wait until they get their next bulk order in from Safari. Just wondering if anyone happens to ...

Mine seems to run at about 90degrees celcius in normal temp conditions, hasn't been over 99 degrees even on a 40degree day, that's read with an OBDII scanner so I'd assume it to be accurate. Re: 3RZ conversion...
Did the same thing in a RN130 4runner. If it is a ifs 4x4 then you will need to use the 4x4 sump from the RZN169 to clear the front diff. Just wondering what the differences in the 2wd and 4wd sumps are? I used a 2wd one, but fitted diff drop spacers, those that come in the ball joint lift kit. It ...
