Re: What tire/wheel size was standard on NA TD42's?

stock 4.11

The 31's are up for replacement, so I need a new set of "everyday" tires. What ever is going to give me best economy & overall performance on road, thats why I'm chasing the stock size.

What tire/wheel size was standard on NA TD42's?

I've had a bit of a hunt around but no luck. I would like to know what tire/wheel size was standard on NA TD42's GQ's and GU's? I have a '95 NA TD42 Ute and have 2 sets of tires, 31x10.5x15 AT's & 33x12.5x15 STT's. The 31's seem to gear the car down too much while the 33's seem a bit much for the ...

Will later models ie gu fit. Did the mounting holes on the block ever change?

Thanks

I had 33" BFG MT's on my patrol and I agree they were noisy compared to AT's. I've now got a set of cooper STT's which I think are not a bad offroad tyre and they're heaps quieter (about the same as AT's imo). Nicer to drive too. http://www.coopertires.com.au/images/Cooper%20STT.jpg http://www ...

Exhaust Bros in Duro St North Geelong (03) 5277 9719, I've always been happy with there service. Probably as close to the lara proving ground as you'd get, about 20 mins.

Defender 200tdi turbo replacement

Hi, I've done a bit of searching but couldn't find the info I was looking for. My brother in law has a 1992 defender tdi and the turbo is on it's last legs (little boost and major shaft play). He's talking about getting it rebuilt, but I was thinking there may be an "upgraded" unit he could buy ...

thanks for the reply's, I thought there might be a "nominal" figure or perhaps someone may have already tested a stock one. When I get a chance I will test mine and post some results.

At what rpm does an alternator generally make max current

and at idle how much current as a percentage of max current is being produced?

ie. max current at 2000rpm and 25% at idle

I've got a td42 patrol with stock alternator, but I think the figures will be about the same for most vehicles

Thanks

I downloaded from rapidshare 158MB and it appears to be only the GU (y61) manual, although a lot of the information is probably the same.

Sounds good, yeah I expect something to be a little different on the front of the engine as I think the main pulley is different (trying to remember my old car). When I get around to doing it I'll update this post. Thanks I hadn't thought of that angle, ppl who have replaced TB42 with TD's. Good one.

Will a A/C Kit for a TB42 fit a TD42?

I have a Nissan AC kit for a GQ tb42 (new in box, was for my old car) and am in the process of buying a GQ TD42 vehicle that has no AC :( Will most of the kit be ok, does anyone know parts that are different? ie is the compressor the same, pipes the same, mounting brackets...? I'm hoping I can get ...

The distributer is fixed in a TB42e so the ECU must be doing all the timing calculations. All we do is set the initial (i guess this is called base too) timing to 10 degrees by rotating it. I know on some other factory ecu's that have been "hacked" you can get in and modify the tables, I've not ...

Thanks Joel I've reprogrammed similar to what your settings are and it does feel much better. I'm running LPG which should be fairly close to Premium. I've got 10 degrees @ 650 rpm 14 @ 1000 17 @ 1500 20 @ 2000 24 @ 2500 27 @ 3000 and maxing out at 39 degrees under light throttle. You start at 15 ...

Thanks for your reply, I don't quite understand what the advance is at 2800rpm. At the moment I'm running about 30 degrees total advance at 3000rpm & no vacuum (Wide open throttle).

Thanks again

TB42 Stock Timing Advance Curve

Hello, Just wondering if anyone might know roughly what the mechanical advance curve (no vacuum) is on a correctly tuned TB42? ie 10 degrees @ 650rpm, 12 @ 1000, 20 @ 2000 .... I've had a programable ecu running my spark for a while now but have still to tune it properly, one day I might get it on a ...

Thats good to hear, so I should just be able to cut the hanger out with a grinder. Was just concerned that it may be structural or something, but if its the done thing when installing gas thats fine with me.

GQ Ute Gas Tank Placement

Hi, just wondering how the gas tanks are fitted to these utes when the spare wheel 'crossmember' seems to be in the way? Do they just put the tank underneath it (will hang pretty low), or perhaps it's cut out... so it can be mounted up higher? I have a leaf sprung model but I guess coil models have ...

I'm sure some of you's know this but I thought it might help clear things up a bit about the Falcon 6... hopefully The Bore & stroke of the falcon 6cyl engine basically hasn't changed since the 70's and from memory is about 92x99mm (longer stroke than bore diameter = more low end torque but lower ...
