Re: td42t rough and Blue smoke in the morning

I checked mine again yesterday and the only time it blew a puff of blue smoke was when a cylinder missed. Otherwise no blue smoke was present at all.

Re: GU td42 getting hot

Check your cluth fan. Their prone to failing and if their not working you will have all sorts of heating issues. Also the radiator might be due for an internal clean.

Re: td42t rough and Blue smoke in the morning

Mine does the same. My mechanic who is a 4BY specialist told me that the GU's do run a bit lean on cold mornings. This is the cause of the miss especially if you increase the idle speed by the hand throttle. It's pretty good if just at idle speed. You will notice it stops after about 30 seconds or ...

Have a look at your clutch fan. These do not last forever and are well known to fail. Put some cardboard in front of the radiator turn on the air and use the hand throttle for a fast idle. Sit back and wait. You will here if the fan locks up as it will roar quite noticeably. If it doesn't replace it ...

My old GQ did this. Drove me mad especially driving next to concrete barriers. I'm pretty sure it was the axle seal. Take the axle out and oil up the seal. See how that goes.

Re: turbo gu

I'm running a Garret GT28R at 19lb and virtually stock fuel. Standard airbox, 3" mandrel exhaust and dump pipe. 109RWKW and exhaust temps in check.

Cheers,

Geez Playn, I wouldn't be complaining about 6k per lt. I have a GU4.2TD with a Garrett GT28R, 3" zorst, 33s, etc and a week away near Omeo after christmas towing the Ultimate returned 5.6k/lt which I thought was pretty good. Cheers, Chambo

GU 4.2 TD miss when cold

Hi all, Just thought I might pass on a little annoying thing that I have noticed since recently buying the GU. In the morning when cold I like to use the hand throttle to give it another couple of hundred revs to warm it up. When I do this is misses on one cylinder for about 20 seconds or so. Couldn ...
