i'd guarantee it'd be the cv joint, i don't know your knowledge extent so don't take this personally but if u don't know what u are looking for it probably would look ok but any wear would cause "clicking sound", i wouldn't rule it out unless you are confident with your inspection

the collapsable spacer is about 20 bucks and seal about 4 bucks, but to do it right u have to use a spring gauge to check how much drag is on the bearings and there is a measurement of force applicable , to do the dodgy way requires a rattlegun and a good feel of assiness.

maybe fuel vaporization, fuel line to close to exhaust or something heating it excessively

or maybe vacuum leak, when hot a crack in manifold for example might open up and loose vacuum causing it not to idle
sorry will have to be trial and error on a few things cos so many options

If you are goin to the trouble of checking u should be prepared to do whats necessary cos by disturbing it you ...

My opinion differs a bit,we fitted a kit to a 1hz only had done 260,000kms and the owner wasn't keen on doing the mains and bigends, he didn't get away with it for long and within three months he had spun a bearing, might be due to his driving style or other mods which i won't mention but it is ...

we used to service generator's throughout wa outback and forever going through river crossings, we used to raise the breathers right up and use a common in-line fuel filter on the end of extended hose, worked well
