Best GU for V8 conversion?

What would be the best GU to buy and put a Gen 3 or bigger V8 into it?
What would be the cheapest?
I have seen a few 4.5's auto's with dead engines cheap as well as 2.8's and 3.0's.
Also how much should i budget for a drive in drive our conversion?

if money is tight, put a detroit locker in the rear. Just as strong as a air locker and can be had for around $600 from the states. Then you can afford the axles at the same time.

The front is a reverse cut 7.5" from a Tacoma in US and Rear is a 8" from Hilux.
Found this place in US that sells all the gears and lockers

Has anyone got a ARB catalog? i thought that the Prado air locker and Hilux were the same part number, and if that is the case then why wouldn't the R&P be the same? It seems strange that Toyota would use something out of a 2wd or even develop a seperate diff, when they have the diffs from a Hilux ...

Prado Diffs?

Hi, i have a '97 Prado with the 2.7 3RZFE. It has 4.3 diff gears as standard, which are the lowest to come out in a prado. Wanting to run larger rubber, does anyone know if Prado diffs are the same as Hilux diffs, so could i run some 4.56 or 4.88's? Also are the lockers the same part and ...

I'll second going for a detroit. For around same money as a air locker you could get a detroit locker for the rear and a true trac for the front.
