Contacts in Japan

I'm heading to Japan next week and thinking of buying a new soft top while I'm there. The J top web site is down, does anybody have Pajero contacts in Japan that i could get hold of to find prices to see if it's worthwhile?

I agree up to a point. I modified a FJ 40 in the early 90's, no roof or doors (not even half doors), long travel suspension, diff locks, repaint etc. Heaps of cred, excellent off road, slow, evil handling when you did get it up to speed, drank like a champion. Drove it across Oz twice and most of ...

The tech component to the story above, which I forgot to add last night. Mike how much dosh to make a copy of your towbar? I'm sick of the rear dozer blade I have now.

Swampers-Simex's or comp type tyres are better off road from what I heard. However if you don't want to muck around with 2 sets ...

How to get bogged 20k from Parliment House

I have been studying hard for Uni exams in four weeks time (my life is a second order DE).Said 'enough' about 6.30 tonight. Decided to go for a drive to clear the mind out, at a hunch I grabbed the recovery gear on the way out. Being new to Canberra I don't know of any tracks yet so just headed ...

I think the Evo is non turbo, most web pages on the Evo don't mention the turbos only the variable valve timing. I think the twin turbo Pajero's have had GTO motors put into them.

I saw an ad for a Evo in Sydney about 2-3months ago, 50000km, from memory it was going for $55,000, I'm not so keen about the looks but they might improve actually seeing the vehicle. I think a half cut would be near impossible to source.
About the soft top, I have had quotes for around $1600 for a ...

I was speaking to a Jap Importer yesterday about getting a genuine canvas soft top imported, anyway during the conversation I asked about the price of a V25C half cut (about 1998, 3.5litre twin cam with auto), he suggested he could deliver one for about ...

If I bought again I would go 2.8 diesel or 3.5 twin cam (putting up with maintainence issues). I drove a 2.5 oiler j top and was impressed with low dow grunt, also a worked over 2.5 (extra boost, large exhaust etc) which was heaps of fun. But hearing the 2.5's were fragile put me off. I couldn't ...

Yeah, it's a good site, I joined up to get extra access. Though correspondence with the guy's over there can get confusing at times. When I first imported the Paj I mistakenly thought 4x4's don't go off road in Japan. That site made me see reality. Thor, have you got a J top? Or just interested?

Thor,
use this link

It gives all details on J tops including pictures, use Babelfish to translate.
On reflection you're probably right, I have seen the internal scoop built into the bonnet on 2.5l jobbies.

"Sorry for the delay in responding to your email, but unfortunatly TJM no longer have the moulds for your vehicle and do not have any exsiting stock.

I have checked if any other manufacture make them for your vehicle, sorry but not for the short wheel base."

Yeah, I agree the 12" is a bit of an overkill, but it's free as it's in my shed as is a near new adjustable pressure reg with gauge. I didn't know computer fans are 12V, just assumed they were 240V. I will check out pricing.
Thanks for the input.

Have you noticed how most Jap modified pajeros run Yokahama Geolander MT's. Have a look at J Roots , Padokku etc. Yet they don't seem to be too popular in Australia.

I was about to go out and buy a engine bay compressor for inflating tyres as I always thought the diff lock was vacuum operated.
Any chance of a phone number for RKS?

G'day Redrocket,
I reckon I bought a 18" spare off you in Brisbane last year? Yeah the 265/ 75 are smaller than the 18" Mud Diggers. You would be hard pressed to pick it though - 2mm less rolling diameter. Thanks for the information on wheel arch flares from TJM, I must have been given a bum drum.

Wheel Flares for SWB

I stumbled on this site tonight. I have been searching for wheel arch flares for my 91 NH SWB J Top Pajero. I have taken off the original 18" rims and put on 16x8" rims with 265/75/R16 Wrangler MT's. As my car doesn,t have original type flares I'm looking to buy a set.
Most places ARB, TJM etc ...
