LC / LR Hybrid info needed

I'm just starting to gather parts to re body my 80 with a Land Rover 110 body.

I've done a load of searches on the usual forums but can't find any information on doing just this.

Surely someone had don this before.

Can anybody point me in the direction of some good information.

Many thanks, Graham

Aye.... red i recon. Not got much done over the last couple of months as we've had heavy snow and generally crap weather since the end of November. Stripped the back end and rebuilt the back axle as the case was in pretty poor condition and difflock was knackered. I'm just refurbing the calipers at ...

Cheers mate. I'm using a cheep Clark MIG welder with argo-shield gas (wound right up cos it was bloody windy) and 0.8 wire as thats what i've got handy. The welds have been dressed back with a flapper disc, 80 grit i think. I spot weld every 20mm or so then fill in between with a series of ...

Highsteer and flipped arms

Just about to lift my 80 and flip the arms to correct the castor but i was wondering if the radius arms can be flipped and run without high steer?

Thanks, G

It's a uk spec '93 80 VX, 4.2 turbo diesel auto, leather, front and rear lockers, air con, sunroof.

I'm not sure how it compares to a Sahara model as i'm guessing thats an OZ spec?

80 ute from the UK

I've only seen one 80 ute here in the UK and it was on ebay, and looked pretty crap, so i decided to build my own after this...... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x30/gkastirling/DPP_0009.jpg Did this...... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x30/gkastirling/DPP_0010.jpg Started Friday and got ...

Ok, i undestand that but when the axle is pushed forward by the effect of correcting the castor the distance between the hub center and the chassis mounting point increases as the axle has to rotate around the front arm mount. So...the axle doesn't move in the same arc, it's a parrallel arc with a ...

Am I missing something here? The graphs don't seem to take into account the arc which the hub centre moves though. With the arms in the standard mounting position, on a lifted vehicle, the axle has to move forward as it moves up, ie against the direction of travel when moving forward. With the arms ...

Thanks everyone, I've sat back and watched the discussion an it's given me the confidence that flipping the arms is worth it. MUD80D mentioned that flipped arms were less likely to bend. I recon between that, the extra clearence and the castor correction it's worth doing. 65Mog's pictures are ideal ...

It'll save me roughly £250 (Aus $550) on the cost of castor plates and should push the axle forward back to where is should be.

yea its a PITA to flip the arms and get the castor right and cut the bracket to suit, i had one person eitherside of the diff hold the castor in place while i welded the brackets in good, like no spot tacks otherwise soon as you let go it just rolls back so yer..and also you might have to make new ...

Cheers, fabricating isn't a problem. I'm looking to gain some clearance under the axle and i want to save the cost of castor plates. I assume that it's just a matter of cutting off the mounts and fabricating new mounts on top of the axle. But, what i'm wondering is how to measure the castor to make ...

Flipped Radius arms

Can someone please point me to some info and pics showing flipped radius arms. I've been searching for a couple of days but can't find what i'm after.

I'm about to fit 5 inch coils to my 80 and want to know how hard it is to flip the arms and is it worth it.

Cheers, G

Shifting between high and low range

I'm new to Landcruisers so this might seem a stupid question. I have uk spec '93 4.2 auto and have fitted the center diff lock dash switch. I'm also going to do the 7 pin mod so that i have a completly manual CDL. I was wondering if, once i've done the 7 pin mod, is there anything stopping me ...
