GU interior paint code

Pretty much gutted the inside of my wagon out, and I'm looking to repaint the interior like the dashboard, centre console, kick panels and so forth. The ID plate on the firewall says Colour/Trim = QM1 K I have a feeling this relates to the outer paint (white in my case) and the K could be the black ...

Cheers for the advice. I'll get some pics up tomorrow (monday) for sure. Been too busy working on the truck today, just forgot to upload them.

I'm a spray painter myself, so that's not an issue. Aslong as you treat any bare metal areas or welds properly, there should be any rust issues at all. Interesting about the GU cabs on Ebay. I'll have to look out for that, thanks for the info mate. This P.O.S GU owes me about 25k already. Bought it ...

I've emailed one wrecker, and will be calling another one on Monday. Ideally, a rolling shell without box and motor would be great. I hear what your saying about right offs etc. Keeping my eyes and ears peeled.

I thought about it, but the cost involved would be too high. Not only that, i'm not really a fan on soft tops, for the fact that if i did roll again it could be physically unpleasant. :) I didn't roll the GU actually 4wd'ing, i misjudged the road about a foot and a half to the right and there ...

Opinions on fixing rolled GU

Hi all, Rolled the GU into a ditch the other week. The damage isn't too bad overall. It's certainly quite fixable at the cost of time and patience. The roof copped it obviously so I'm just weighing up my options, and I'd like any opinions or experience on the matter. 1. Fix the roof damage. Requires ...

Yeah, i wouldn't advise people ignoring all advice. :P I was going to get the 35's no matter if they fit or not. If the didn't fit, then i would have made them fit, probably at a price. :)

Cheers

Couple of pics from Sunday (Gembrook)

Finally decided to bite the bullet and get the 35's, even though some people said i couldn't fit them. Lucky i didn't listen to them, as i had a blast! Tyres were amazing compared to the sh!tty little 31's i had previously! (obviously). :) Here's a few of my favourite pics from Sunday at Gembrook ...

Thanks for the replies guys, great stuff! Everyone is saying, "do the gearing".. but why? What is the actual reasoning behind changing the low range gears? All i can think of is, with larger diameter tyres, you might travel slighty faster down hill in low 1.. might require tapping the brakes every ...

What's the deal with the 2.8TD and 35's?

G'day guys, Just recently had a 3" dobbinson suspension kit fitted to my GU 2.8TD Wagon and love it so far, although i haven't really been offroad yet. (just small stuff) I'm going away for a weekend trip in the end of September, and i want to upgrade the tyres asap. It has 31's on it atm. From ...

Thanks for the replies. Very interesting indeed. I'm going to get a final price of the repairs and then ring the used car dealer up and discuss my options with him. If he doesnt seem to care, or wishes to wipe his hands of it, then i'll definetly be digging deeper. Any opinions on what i should do ...

engine rebuilt, turbo needs replacing. Idea's? (GU 99')

Hi all. Picked up a GU Wagon, 99' model, 2.8td about 3 weeks ago. After it not starting well, i took it to the mechanics and they find water had been getting into the 6th cylinder through a blown head gasket. The head itself had 8 cracks in it, and was rubbish bin material. The shaft in the turbo ...

Awesome.. hopefully with the fan on constantly feeding cool air into the I/C, it should free up a small amount of ponies.

Kind of makes me think why Nissan have it on a sensor at all? I guess they didn't want it drawing on extra battery power whilst on idle or something..

Just a follow up,

I unplugged the plug at the front of the I/C and the fan does spin up.

Just out of interest, has there been any adverse effects by leaving the plug unplugged?

Cheers.

Hey, Yeah sorry, it IS the 2.8td. I'll have a go at unplugging and re-plugging, see what happens. Didn't want to waste time mucking around until i got an answer. How i spotted this was, my car was overheating this morning. I turned around, limped home (not far atleast) and took my other car ...

Intercooler fan not working

Just noticed the fan underneath the top mount Intercooler isn't working.. Is that fan supposed to be on constantly? Or does it come on when the engine is working hard? If it's supposed to be constant, has anyone else had this trouble? Was/is it an easy fix, or do i need to get the multimeter out ...
