Cheers mate. I've asked on other forums too and someone has actually mentioned something about the balance of the car being the problem and how it doesn't transfer the weight of the car to the front properly. Could be the problem but I can't see how its going to work man...

The wierd thing is that if I do a gradual push on the brake then it stops fine with very minimal effort. The time when its bad is when I suddenly slam of the brakes for emergencies then it almost just immediately locks up. Kinda stupid when in an emergency you need the brakes the most.

Haven't gone to the mechanic with the problem yet but will soon. The Surf is actually the first 4x4 I've owned and I'm just not very sure if this is just a characteristic of 4x4s that I'm not used too. It would seem that the fronts are locking up.
