What I did was remove one of the bolts from the spare wheel carrier and using a lathe I drilled a hole through it just big enough to get the wire through. I coated the wire in sikaflex then fed it through the hole. I have had this on the 4B now for a couple years without any problems even with the ...

I eventually drilled a hole through the spare wheel mount and ran it through where you couldn't see it.

rear work light
I'm about to put a rear work light on the back of my 4B and am trying to figure out how to get power to the outside of the rear door without drilling holes in the panel.
Those of you who have already done this, how have you done it?

Have emailed you instructions for latest Patrol which is almost identical to what you have. The only difference is the location of the switch inside the cab.

cracked
They would most likley crack with or without the covers. It is because of the heat in the lamp and the cool temp of the water.
I found this out the hard way after cracking both Hella Ralley 4000's with covers and my headlights on a dark cold night crossing a swollen river.

Tapered reamer
Does anybody know where I could hire a tapered reamer or have a steering arm hole reamed out in Melbourne? I am building my own high steer arms and need to ream a tapered hole to suit Patrol tie rod end. I have looked at buying a reamer but it is going to cost over $150.00 and that's a bit too much ...

There is pleanty of clearance so rubbing won't be an issue. most likley you will have 4.88 diff gears so you won't notice a loss power.

adaptor
Hey Madmont
How did you shorten and re-spline your output shaft? Did you do it or did you get someone to do it for you??
I'm about to make my own adaptor to put Hilux transfer case behind a Holden Trimatic and it will follow along the same lines as what you have done.

hanger
Here is a pic of my hanger. It ended up being 50mm forward and 70mm lower. The only prob I have found is that I had to hack a heap out of the radiator support panel to get the steering box forward enough to align the steering rod. Note: On this pic you wil notice that the spring mounting points are ...

Hi shark1e I have access to the European Fast cataloge which is the parts catalogue for your vehicle so I may be able to help you out. I tried putting your Vin in but it didn't accept it. I know in australia all our Vin's are 17 charactures long but unsure of your Vin's. Can you check and confirm ...

I have looked up the parts catalogue and the diff in question fits an R50 Pathfinder. It's spec is H233B 2 pinnion with 48/11 which means a ration of 4.363. Looking at the Patrol catalogue the only difference between it and the R50 is the Patrol has a 4 pinnion H233B diff. I don't know if the two ...

Thanks for the info Daryl I'll look into this but I'm not sure if it will suit my application. I intend to run dual case which increases the drivetrain length by about 6 inches. This along with the distance required for the drive shaft between the trans and t/case may make the drivetrain too long ...

Trimatic into Hilux
I would like to adapt a trimatic auto to a gear driven hilux transfer case. The reason for this is I have already got a holden V8 engine that is trimatic pattern and want to put this in the Hilux. I know I can get an adaptor to go to turbo pattern but I'm trying to keep costs down. Does anybody sell ...

Below is a link to a dealer that would sell parts online. The part number you require is A6575-VB001A and has a list price of $280 AU.
If you have trouble getting one I could send one over for you. Just PM me if you need help.

Check out my 79 Lux in the thread below. I fitted a genuine GU Patrol snorkel to it. It fits so well that when Love_Mud came over and looked at it he couldn't believe it wasn't meant for a Toyota. I have since changed the "Nissan" emblem for a "Toyota" one and you wouldn't know it a Nissan product ...

Thanks for the info Hypolux.
Is there anything that you can advise me to do or not to do as I'm starting this weekend to put the Patrol axles under the lux.
BTW I'm still trying to find out how much wider than std your hanger is. I've worked out that I need another 120mm in the width.

From you comment I take it that it was quite difficult to fit the axle using leafs. Was the end result worth it or would you go a 5 link if you did it again. Also, how much wider was your spring hanger than std?

I don't want to highjack this thread but I'm in the process of putting GU axles under a lux using leaf springs not coils. I read somewhere on here in the past about the dropped hanger Hypolux made for his rig and how he made it wider than standard to accept the Patrol axles. I've searched for the ...
