I agree with most of Bush65's comments but a five link suspension does not have to have parallel radius arms, in fact most do not and they are not equal length either. I think that the issue of legality relates to complying with the Tyre & Rim Association specifications and they do not list or recognise beadlock's. The Tyre & Rim Association is an international association that sets world wide standrds for same.

Maybe we should get a world wide submission on this ...

You are right, I checked last night, to my embasament. Yes the Salsbury is a hypoid, but the stadard rover is spiral, probably why its not such a high strength unit.

Interesting comments about the spiral vs hypoid gearsets. Firstly the hypoid has the axis of the pinion offset to the crown wheel centre. The spiral pinion axis goes through the centre of the crown wheel. That's the most significant difference visually. I do not think the LR diff is a spiral ...
