Re: EDM cutting splines in hardened gears questions

providing the job is as simple as it sounds ie. nothing needs to be ground because it is too hard to machine as mentioned, you should budget somewhere around $500+ for the whole lot. its not cheap by any means but its not something that many places will touch either. wire cutting on its own wouldn't ...

Re: EDM cutting splines in hardened gears questions

gears and shafts will be hard, can be machined to some extent with the right inserts. EDM would be the go for the spline. Even wire cutting would be an option. I do alot of this sort of stuff for work if you have any questions. Like already mentioned it wouldnt be real cheap, you might be suprised ...

its completely different to mig and arc, as in the difficulty and the way you should go about it. If you have no idea how to weld alloy, get someone who does to show you the basics and teach yourself from there. there is a few important things you prob wont work out for yourself. you will have no ...

i have done it a few times ( i am a machinist). its really very easy. as already said, dont attemp it without a lathe because it wont work. my ln106 has a dodgey sensor which causes the brake light to come on all the time. Give it a couple taps or fiddle with it a bit and it comes good for couple days then it comes back. I just live with it or disconnect it lol :D

the search function is a bit hit and miss. lossen off your radiator hoses and your intake ones( whatever other hoses connected to your cab and motor) loosen the ends of your steering shaft at both ends so it can move freely, you should get the length out of it but an extension wouldnt hurt. i personally wouldnt weld anything with an arc but thats me. For this i would mig it. I use a tig every day but i wouldnt use one for this, unless you know what your doing, good at doing it and have a good enough tig to do it otherwise its a waste of time and you will do more damage than good

Assuming its a solid axle? depends on how far you want to go with the lift? 2'' springs with 2'' body lift should just clear 33's and leave the rest of the car relitively unchanged. Go any bigger or higher and its starts to get a bit more complicted and expensive. with that said do the body lift and ...

the ARB compressor's flow rate is about 62lpm under load. How do you work it out? compressor cuts out at about 100psi so does the size of the tank really matter?
