swapping crownwheel

Is it possible to swap 3.7 or 3.9 crown wheels to the same pinion??

Example - if i had a 3.7 centre and i wanted to go to 3.9, can i just put a 43 tooth crown wheel in the 3.7 centre witout swapping the pinion?

That is for a pair of universal shocks. If you look under hilux 05+, the front struts are $540 shipped. So taking a guess, $540 for the front, $399 for the rear - $939 all up. Sounds like a rip off to me. But if you want to pay $400 odd to have someone do something you can do in 5min yourself - good ...

My mate just bought these from the states the other week for his 05 hilux. He put them on with 50mm lovels coils, stock rear springs. Car sits 10mm higher in the front, bullbar should level it. They are height adjustable, but if using lifted springs run the circlip at the bottom. They ride fantastic ...

As said above, your better off taking a bit of time to make a right angle drive.

Otherwise you will have to pull the motor out just to change a cap and rotor in the future - if you go the Mazda route.

No you have to use the 323 rotor, i was saying the one i got the brass bit out of was off a hitachi distributor. The 323 rotor looks the same as the one i used. Where are you located, i have the one i modified, didnt end up using it. Made up a right angle drive instead. You can have it, and the cap ...

Just had a thought, to get the brass bit out of the gti button, i had to cut the plastic away. The brass bit may get bigger when you remove some of the plastic. The one i had was splined on the outside of the brass bit to stop it spinning once pressed in to the plastic. If you dont need the gti ...

Hey,

That qoute was from me.

I did this a while back with a mk3 engine.

The rotor in the pic looks the same, but a mk3 runs a hitachi distributor.

The mk 1 runs a different type of distributor.

Maybe the brass insert is smaller on the mk 1, than the mk 3.

Hey, You will need the gti engine loom and part of the gti body loom, its not that hard you can download a gti manual mk3 from suzukiinfo.com. The engine loom pretty much stays complete, there are a few wires in it the you dont need. The only part of the dash loom you need is the coil/igniter and ...

The hose that is cut is where the booster connects to. The hose that your pointing at connects to the cold start valve. From memory it connects to the thermostat housing. Your also missing the hoses for the egr valve, that little red/brown thing with 2 hose barbs on it. One goes to the charcoal ...

Sorry my mistake, that is not your IAC, i can see that in the pic.

It is the A/C SV valve, it ups the idle when you switch the aircon on.

If you dont have A/C you can remove it and plug the outlets on your manifold. Mine are plugged, i presume the donor i got my engine from had no A/C.

The canister thing is your IAC (idle air control) it controls the idle depending on accessory load. Yes you need it if you want the car to idle. If you look at your pic, the red line you have drawn goes right through the brake booster outlet on the manifold. Its the barb with no hose on it. Have you ...

The sierra flywheel has a 2mm step machined into it where the clutch plate sits. The gti doesnt. Dont know if you can mix and match, you would have to try it to see if it fits and operates.

Have a look at the exedy website, there are some measurements on there.

Anyway, i was going to use the mazda cap, but i dont think there is enough room to take the cap off once the engine is in the car for maintenance etc.

I would hate to have to pull the engine out to change a cap and rotor. That is why i ended up making the angle drive.

All you have to do for a mk2/3 is open up the base of the cap about 2mm with a dremel. For the rotor you need the brass sleeve out of the gti rotor, which is a press fit into the existing hole in the mazda rotor, drill a hole in the pastic for the clamping screw and your done, install leads so ...

You can buy splined shaft and sleeve for tractors, as said by ajsr

Have a look at this website

Around 1 3/8 21 spline sounds about right

You can buy the 89 mazda 323 turbo 1.6 GTX distributor cap and rotor from the US,

I think it worked out to about $50 to my door.

They are not hard to find. Havent tried modifying it yet though, not sure how much messing around to get it to work.

11.5" tyres on 7" rim???

Hi, Has anyone ran 32x11.5x15 tyres on a 7 inch rim?? I know recommended is 8inch minimum, and a skinnier rim can cause sidewall shift on cornering. This is for a zook, just wondering if anyone has done this, and what issues it may cause with handling etc. I thought it may be more of a issue on ...
