Re: Transfer Case Seal

I rebuilt my transfer on my 75 a while ago, wasn't too hard.

I just bought a good detailed workshop manual and it all made sense once i split the case. took a few pics before i pulled things apart which helped.

Re: Bighorn VS KM2

I've been running KM2's on my cruiser for almost a year and so far they have been very impressive, excellent performance in the bush and not too bad on the road either. Had 2 sets of the old BFG muddies before that and got 80,000 kays out of both sets and they still had life left in them.

Re: Dts turbo issues

Yeah it's sure is looking that way mate, think i have a combination of two leaks going on there either way it's losing alot of oil at the moment.

probably wouldn't hurt to give it all a freshen up, turbo's been on for 110 000 so far, 310 000 on the ute

Re: Dts turbo issues

Cheers sloth, tonight i hooked up the crankcase breather hose to a bottle and drove 100 kays and there wasn't a drop of oil in it when i got home so thats good news for the engine. still a fair bit of oil in the turbo plumbing. replaced the rear main seal a few weeks ago and there is a bit of oil ...

yeah that would be my preference to supply parts and get the box done in the shop, do the rest myself and save on labour, have access to specialty tools and a hoist. need to use the car for work so hopefully it doesn't develop too quickly, got a 400km round trip. will pull the pto cover off and have ...

doing the clutch myself, cost a small fortune to get it done here. would love to slap a reco unit in but the best quote i've got so far is 2800 exchange. Is it possible to inspect the input gear and spline through the pto cover on the transfer case? seems like a fairly common problem with the ...

that makes things easier then, would definately do the bearings while i'm in there. would that explain the clunking noise? noise isn't there when you come to a stop with the car in gear and the clutch depressed, only there if you coast to a stop in neutral. clutch is pretty sad and is getting ...

thanks heaps for the help, the grinding noise in 4h was unrelated, the clunking noise at walking pace is there in 2h 4h and 4L but doesn't do it in reverse. The gearbox input gear sounds like a good possibility, is this possible to change with the box still in the car? have a body lift so it's ...

it's got the h55f in it. got a feeling it might be something in the transfer, had a play around with it, when i coast to a stop in neutral from about walking pace down it makes a clunk clunk clunk noise and when put into h4 with the hubs out it makes a horible grinding noise. thought it was the rear ...

75 series gearbox issues

got a problem with the gearbox in my 96 75 series. box has the usual chatter in 5th gear but lately it has been making a high pitched whine when you back off the gas a touch in 5th and 4th, all gears are easy to change and the noise goes away at around 110. changed the oil with 85 140 and has made ...

Thanks mate but judging by the amount of oil thats coming out of there it couldn't be normal, it is literaly everywhere on that side of the motor and in the intake. Is there much chance of doing engine damage and how much time on average would i have before something craps it's self. Also would i be ...

thanks for the input everyone. Had the compression test done pre turbo and it was 100%. there is no oil in the air intake before the turbo, only after the turbo. There is only oil seeping through the plumbing join after the turbo, from the air cleaner to the turbo is oil free. I will check ...

hey everyone, I have a 75 series 1hz with mtq turbo setup. On start up it blows a puff of blue/grey smoke and when it is running it blows very fumy exhaust that smells of burning oil with no visible smoke while normal driving. engine has done 240 000 kms. Had compression test done pre turbo, 100 ...
