G'day joel Did the supplied loom reach that far back into the quarter panel? I was thinking of doing something similar. To avoid wear and tear to the "cardboard" I was thinking of either replacing it with some aluminium checker plate or sourcing another "rear wiper washer fill lid thingy" (got no ...

I use the Gulf Western Turbo LA in my HJ60. No issues. No oil loss over the 5000 km between changes. Flows out nicely when changing. :D

Can anyone see an issue with simply using a lynch pin system similar to that used in a tractor 3 point linkage set up? Using the above picture as a guide, if you were to substitute the curved hook with a 16 to 25mm hole, then weld a piece of round bar of the same dia as the hole through the rear ...

G'day P.J zook.

To make your tyre carrier (looks good by the way) what parts did you order from Martins? I'm looking at making a twin tyre carrier for the 60. Cheers.

Oil filters for a 2H

G'day All Having searched with no success, does anyone have a suggestion as to a brand and supply of oil filters to suit a 2H? Bought one from Repco the other day - $40!! Surely there has to be cheaper in price, but still have quality? Would even buy 10 - 20 at a time if that helped. Any ideas or ...

DD - wow! Thanks for that. Mind numbing stuff - do like your preselection idea, very  Even your supercheap idea was way ahead of my initial nut scratching. I was thinking along the lines of using a spring to put a pre-load on the shaft rail that would pull it out of overdrive. Then running a ...

DanielS,
The ride has been good so far. As I said, haven't really done anything major yet, but going by performance to date, I don't think I'll be disappointed. Best thing was it lifted the 60's saggy butt off the ground. Now, if I could just get something like that for the wife......... ;)

I recently put ARB Dakar HD springs on my 60. With OME shocks and steering dampner , greasable shackles, - $2000. Very happy with it. Lifted the front just on 50mm, the back went up 70mm. Haven't used it on real rough stuff yet, but certainly travels well loaded up. Hope that helps.
Cheers.

G'day DD
Basically I'm trying to avoid two handed gear changes in the hills - apart from being unsafe, too many revs are lost. Would be keen to hear your ideas for reliable and for cheap.
Cheers.

Fairey Overdrive question

G'day. I have a 1982 HJ60 four speed with a fairey overdrive. The overdrive is great for those "in-between" gears on long hills when 3rd wont pull and 2nd feels like it's screaming (remember this is a good ol' 2H we're talking about  ). I'd like to rig something up on the gear stick similar to ...
