Stuck starter solenoid
After hours of fiddling, we called the RACT guy (local auto rescue organisation) he fiddled around for a bit, finally said "aha!", tapped the starter solenoid and smiles all round. If you ever need to do the same, it's under the manifold, with two black shrouded wires ...

First post on this forum, bit of a sad one.
Have 96tdi disco which won't start My wife drove it home last night, I went to move it a couple of minutes later and no go.
