Re: Clutch bleeding my mav...
Just been trough this; replaced master & slave cylinder and the rubber hose to the slave cylinder. I tried to bleed the system myself for hours and went through four cans of brake fluid to no avail. I had a mobile mechanic with a vac bleeder give up on it after hours (lucky, he didn't want to charge ...

Nice job. The gap between the body and the rear bar seems to be a bit narrow. Mine was the same and the bar (Patroldocta) hit the body.

Re: Who has busted a GQ LHS CV
I tried everything to seperate the axle from the CV and nothing worked. I ended up carefully cutting the sphere between the star and the bell so that the bearing balls dropped out. Then, I carefully ground down the star on the axle until I could split it.

Haultech CV question
I fitted Haultech CVs to my GQ front diff on Thursday. When I greased them, I noticed that they were incredibly tight. I knew that they are tighter than the standard CVs, but I had to pull like an ox to bend them from straight to full lock on the bench.
Anyway, I fitted them and the test drive with ...

Re: Another gu steering box in Gq
I put a GU steering box into my GQ two months ago. I have a small Pulsar N14 steering wheel and noticed that the steering was a bit stiffer than with the GQ box, but not to a point that it is a problem. I can't comment on the internals of the GQ and GU pump, but the pulley on the GU pumps is ...

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I'm going to upgrade both sides. I can't justify the cost of Cal ChroMo CVs, so I'm looking into either the Yuri or Haultech strengthened CVs. Can anyone comment on either of them?

Who has busted a GQ LHS CV
As the subject line suggests, I’m interested in who managed to bust the left hand side CV in their GQ and how.
I have theory that the right hand side CV is more prone to being destroyed as there is way less torsional flex in the short axle on the right compared to the left.

I run Dyneema SK75 rope on my Tigerz 12lb winch and I’m having problems with the rope getting very close to melting on the drum near the brake. Some revovery situations just require a hard pull with the winch getting hot.

What sort of wheels do you have on your car?
I tend to agree with what's been said above. I suspect that your castor is at around 0 degree with this lift and offset bushes.

Had the same problem and ended up doing it with another person. The vacuum bottle makes a good fluid catch! I would love for this to work as its a good idea as i usually work on my cars by myself.
100 dollars would be a bit steep for a fluid catch :bad-words: .

vacuum beleeding brakes question
I tried to vacuum bleed the brakes on my GQ today and it didn’t work at all.
It looks like air gets sucked in through the thread of the nipple, which defeats the whole system.
Because the bleeder system I bought didn’t come with a lot of instructions, I googled vacuum bleeding a bit and I can’t see ...

ZD30 airbox question
Does anyone know if you can get the metal clips which hold the lid down on the air filter box as spare parts. The Nissan spare parts people, I spoke to were not very helpful.
I got an airbox from a wrecker with one of the clips missing.

Re: GU Coil Hat Bracing
I don't think, it's just a matter of the structural strength of the brace. Mounting the brace directly on the tower will prevent the towers from tilting under force straight away.
Your solution, basically transfers the vertical force into the brace which then transfers the force into the tray ...

I had a D21 Pathfinder for a couple of years.

There is not too much second hand aftermarket gear around.
The steering links are relatively weak (compared to IFS Toyotas).

I replaced the rear brake pads on my GQ the other day and bled the brakes thoroughly and after that the brake felt really spungy with the pedal sinking. OK, the time has come to improve the security on my GQ TD42 and I thought one way of doing it is to install a hidden fuel cut off switch. Re: what chainsaw to buy for camping & 4WD trips
Thanks for all the replies guys. My budget was originally around the $500 mark. I thought, a saw with a 40cm bar would do for firewood cutting and the occasional track clearing. My problem with ebay was that everything that ticked all the boxes was interstate or someone put in a crazy bid.

what chainsaw to buy for camping & 4WD trips
I’m wondering what types of chainsaws people buy for their camping and 4WD trips. Basically, I’m looking for something which will do for firewood cutting, but also for track clearing, if need be. A mate of mine has a Stihl MS260C, which we had on trips. I like it as it is reasonable powerful, not ...

Re: Looks like my factory locker is dead
The factory locker is ok for occasional use. Manufacturing the fork and sliding gear from cast is just being cheap for the sake of it. If they intended to make it a quality product (like the rest of the car), they would have used forged steel.
