what visible differences are there between the 2.4 diesel hilux motor, and the 2.2 diesel hilux motor, i have what i thought was a 2.4(2l) hilux, but having looked at a friends 2.2 motor, the only dirrerence is the position of the huge air filter box, the plates on mine say 2l motor is there any oth...

i have been told to use the rear leaf springs off a hilux on the front, and extended shackles etc etc, anybody ever tried any other springs? also been told to put the rear springs off a 98/99 hilux in my 87 model for more lift, any comment??????

12v power

i got a reducer, from 24v, down through 18,16,14,12,9,5,etc, from dick smiths, so i guess u could get something similar to the item in the last post from there, although, a 150 watt inverter these days is only about $35-40

also!!

i have seen the link on here for the 2" body lift fot the hilux surf, it mentions the things like extending the gear shift, and lowering the radiator etc, but says nothing about the steering column, is it not an issue?

i just paid 2200 for an '87 model with the 2.4diesel motor, all stock, with alloy tray, not bad nick and only 260k needs plenty of $$$'s spending on it to get it where i want it oh and it had rego too lol.

yeah mate, i got a list as long as my arm, but i got the kit sitting there, so may as well put it in, i was talking to a bloke yesterday about buying an air box from a hilux surf, apparently smaller, leaving room for the battery on the passenger side, dunno if it will need any mods or if it'll slip ...

have ya seen under the bonnet of these things, the filter is huge, there is no room without moving something, even for a small batterya friend of mine has the 2.5 diesel triton, you could get 4 batteries in there with no drama, but not the hilux.

whats enough lift????

i am thinking of putting 33's or 35's on my 87 hilux, how much spring and body lift will it need,and most important, how expensive is the job.
