2L Timing Belt Snapped...What to do?

Hey guys, My mate's 85 Hilux has a Surf 2LT fitted and has snapped a timing belt, as assessed by the RACQ bloke who was called shortly after. I believe these are non-interference motors yeah? Can anyone shed some light on fitting a new belt? I'd like to help out, but if its a massive headache, i'd ...

Entertaining the thought for a moment, from a certification/engineering point of view, which chassis out of the 3 would be most likely to be certifiable? I would have assumed the 80 chassis, due to the fact both are toyota's, however the reality is it makes 4/5th's of FA difference, as all mounts ...

4WD R Series box... to 2wd?

Hi guys, I have a non 4wd oriented question that i hope you R gearbox people can help me with. Im having fun trying to find R154 gearboxes that dont cost $1.2m. Is it possible to remove the transfer case from an R15# to run as a 2wd? If so, is it possible to do it without pulling the gearbox ...

Those 2.8's have the smallest turbo i've ever seen, it looks like a bloody sausage mcmuffin with an air filter hanging off it, ridiculous. Whats the best way to go about upgrading the turbo? They're a Garrett unit, but have a 3 bolt triangle rear housing, which isnt exactly common? Surely the 2.8 ...

LN106 Lux Tie Rods Hitting Cruiser Rims

G'day Gentlemen,

Looking at a set of 15 X 10 rims from a 75 series, but am told they hit the tie rod ends on the live axle Hilux's.

Will IFS Hub/Rear housing conversion fix this?

Cheers

88-97 Hilux Guru's! Front Grille Question

Hey boys n girls, Im told there was a facelift update on the LN106 in late 1991 or so, in which the front grilles changed. I've got a 90 model, is it possible to fit the later front without modification, or are there issues with headlights, indicators, other silly shit etc etc. I've done a quick ...

Hey mate, I have seen 255/85/16s BFG muddies fitted to the SR rims on a Hilux (with Old Man Emu suspension), with only a very small modification required to the inner guard, i believe only a piece of plastic. Awesome tyre for these, bit over 33" diameter. Im sure the smaller 235/85 would work no ...

You wont go too wrong with an good internally gated turbo, reliability wise. Nearly every OEM turbo has an internal wastegate. One of the biggest advantages of an external is the boost control is significantly better, they will regulate boost pressure more consistently througout the rev range. Some ...
