Stay away from tough dogs. Mine lasted 2 trips and told no warranty on anything over 3''. Was later told by same shop (on another forum after I posted that info) that they should of been replaced under warranty and it was their salesmans misinformation. flywheels are different mate. 1 has 6 holes and a dowel , the other has 7 holes and a dowel. not sure which is which though but they are definately different.

The 3.0's torque converter does not like the 6.5L chev diesels. I'd hate to see how long one would last behind your donk. I spoke to a fair few auto guys and they all reckon the 3lt is the best option as the torque converter is the biggest/best. the box runs 4 main cogs so to speak instead of 3 ...

you can pull the holden pump apart and stretch the springs internally and space it with a very small washer and it works heaps better. mine is fine but it sounds like you may have a different issue somewhere though.

also check your fan is working properly. bro in law had a 2.8 that would only heat up on the highway as well and his clutch fan was shagged. i would of thought it would heat up around town but it was fine and only got hot on the h/way.
