Re: Rangy steering boss Spline size/count?

I'd be interested...been looking for a boss kit for my rangie as I want to change the wheel for a smaller one.

I'll buy it on the proviso I get my money back if it dont fit....

Re: will super swampers boggers fit

Both are very tough tyres, the Simex and more commonly used down here in VIc for the sloppy stuff, but the swampers are good too. Personally I run 35 x 10.5 pedes and I find them better for mud as being thinner they cut through the mud better. When it comes to it though...it comes down to cost and ...

Nah I dont think its worth that much. Its a two door and youve taken the goodies off it. I got mine for $8k and it came with F&R lockers, jacmac axles, lift, winch etc etc etc.

Its worth about $2.5-3 I think...

Also check wheel bearings. They wont cause major issues, but I tightened mine up and it improved things a bit.

I had a bad head shake in my classic rangie. After replacing all bushes panard, radius arm still did not fix it. Ended up being swivel hub preload was not right. :x

Yep, check your preload and also your steering dampener. Also, have a look at your wheel bearings...they might need tightening ...

Yeah I have been in touch with Bill, very helpful guy. He really took the time to respond to my emails.

I am thinking of getting the new 4.14s he has. They bolt straight in and are supposed to be even stronger than the 4.11 due to a lower and coarser tooth count. I can get these for around $1000 ...

Where to buy 4.11's?!

Hi All

I am wanting to get some 4.11s for the rangie, but apparently there is a backlog with Ashcroft so I cant get any through Rovacraft for a while.

Anyone know of any other good suppliers that have them for a reasonable price? If there are any other brands from the States Im happy to look ...

GUys

I will pay as soon as I can, but I am waiting for the bank to sort out a loan. Its in their hands at the moment.

Will try to get it done asap. Still tossing up whether I got for 30% with 4.11's or just whack in 49% gears.

Hmm...

Yeah gearbox seemed fine. No shuddering. A bit notchy getting into 2nd gear, but that was only at first...it warmed up and was fine. My Disco does the same.

Yeah it was a hardtop and has been converted. I dont think it has an engineers report though.

Defender buying advice needed

Ok, so I went to look at a nice green 94 300Tdi today. I looking at doing it up just for hard trips.

It was advertised as a ute, but it turns out it was what the seller calls a "panel van" which means its likely a hardtop thats been converted to a ute. The long roof, windscreen and ute side all ...

Or you could face the scoop backwards... This would prevent the water flowing straight in but you might on get as much of an air ram effect.

Angus

You don't want an air ram effect. You want air to flow OUT of the bonnet scoop/vent/whatever, so it is easier for air to flow IN via the radiator ...

Hey All

Just doing some research in preparation for buying my rangie and I was just wanting to know a bit more about replacement Cw&P gears. It looks like most people go for 4.11's but you can get 4.27's, 4.75's etc.

Correct me if Im wrong, but 4.11's will still be a little tall for a rangie ...
