Sierra with Vitara P/S - Box problem
Hi all, My 91 Sierra with Vitara PS setup has just developed an issue. All of a sudden the steering became very "notchy" and something wasn't feeling right. I have found that the steering shaft uni was buggered and was definitely the main problem. I have a new one coming in the mail. Unfortunately I ...

I have received a reply from Lowrangeoffroad. The Spools only carry a 6 month warranty, so I am out of luck there. Sean has said: "We have had a few failures in the past and 90% of the time the customer finds out that the housing is not "true." You may want to check it somehow first before you go ...

Cheers for the comments guys. X2 - I vote incorrect heat treatment.... or the axle was heavily worn when it went in allowing excessive play, but that doesn't look like the case. I don't daily my car, but when I pulled mine out to swap it over to my Vitara centre it looked like new (except for where ...

Mini Spool death...
Hi all, I have a 91WT Sierra with a Lockright in the front and a Mini-Spooled rear (from www.lowrangeoffroad.com). I have had the spool in for about a year, and it has done bugger all work. I have always treated it kindly on the bitumen to avoid putting unnecessary stress on it. The other day, while ...

I have a feeling that there is a V pulley getting around that is known to fit. It might be off an earlier model Falcon.. Hopefully someone here can help to clarify that. Do a search too, cos the details will definitely be hidden in this forum somewhere! I have no idea what my pulley is off - Sorry ...

Hi. I cant help you with your A/C question, but the best alternator upgrade available is to fit a Falcon 100/110A alternator. It is 'almost' a straight bolt in, and will give you all the grunt you need. Do a search for "EF / EL Falcon Alternator Upgrade" in this forum and you will find heaps of info ...

I'm planning on fitting a Warn 6000 or similar behind my alloy bar, which I believe was made by ECB. http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc282/pezcat19/Zook%20Stuff/BighornZookbarr.jpg My plan is to make up a steel winch cradle behind the bar that does all of the work, then bolt the bar to that. I ...

Once the falcon alternator is bolted into place (pulleys aligned, belt tighterned etc) And the Positive terminal connected to the battery positive. Will the ...

Just adding some info - I had a 100A Falcon, 110A Fairmont and 110A aftermarket alternator side by side the other day and they are absolutely identical. No discernible difference whatsoever. You did not notice the raised collar/neck behind the pulley on the 100A alt? They look 'almost' identical ...

Thanks for the replys and help guys! So now my understanding is that the EL alternator will drop right into the spot of my old stock alternator and all i have to do is switch the plugs over? Hi Combo! Welcome to Outers! It sounds like your on the right track. My Zook is very similar to your mod 'wish list'. Here are a couple of thoughts I have for you: *2" Spring lift - Be careful here, generally lifted springs on a Sierra will ride and flex like crap. My Zook has 2" King springs and I ...

One more thing (at the risk of making this thread TOO technical ;) ) Car radios are designed to work with 75ohm coax cables. CB antennas and CB coax cables are 50ohm. If you use the 50ohm CB coax to feed your 75ohm car radio, there will be significant attenuation of the signals you are trying to ...
^^^ What skippy said. If by "CB antenna" you mean a 27MHz antenna, then you 'might' find the performance just OK (keep in mind that AM radio is centered at around 1MHz and FM radio is centered around 100Mhz). If you are thinking about using a UHF CB antenna (centered at 477MHz) then thats a bad idea ...
