toyota corolla 3k starter fits an 800cc stockman engine - did it many years ago, and kicks the motor twice as fast.
I would assume that the engines should take the same starter.
toyota corolla starters should be easy and cheap to source

Bozwon - as squik said, the bearing did not come out, so the issue of the backing plate is not relevant.
the actual axle came out leaving the bearing and collar in the diff housing.

80ks on the Great western highway, a dumbass changed lanes without looking (busy on his mobile phone) and i was airborne for about 10 metres until i landed on the drivers side windscreen pillar and slid for about 40 metres until i hit the back of a garbage truck.

No injuries just hurt pride.

The resin in the pads release gas when they get hot, and this gets trapped between the pad and the rotor, so no matter how hard you push the pedal, the pads wont grip the rotor properly.

You must be joking - do you know anything about how a brake pad works, or do you just make assumptions?

i've got 35's and 5.12s and the speedo seems to still be accurate - just can't get to the top speed anymore - too much wind resistance.

I sit on the M2 at about 100 on the speedo (3500rpm) and am with the other traffic.

Rockhopper changes gear ratios inside the transfer.
Speedo gear is driven off the rear output shaft in the transfer, not the gearbox.
So in effect, the rockhopper does not effect the speedo.
If you want to use gearing to correct the speedo, change the diff ratios.
