On a similar note, can you buy window tint to apply yourself? I remember my old man doing the windows in our car years ago. Can you buy good quality and or darker shades too?

I had that same decal on my 75 Series ute years ago. Never got around to taking it off, and it did make it a fraction easier to identify my ute out in a carpark full of white 75 utes.....

Most new petrol 4wds will run under water as much as a diesel as long as you do not drown it. Snorkels are great but do not assume that if fitted by a professional fitter that they are fully sealed. Check them.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Nissan lights wouldn't fit the Great Wall utes and vice versa. I thought it was because they were a slightly different shape in the back or some such thing???

Mate, it's just in good nick. I paid $4K for it 12 months ago off a farm worker's wife in Dalby. Only 2 owners previous to me. There may have been a slight respray on the gutters after rustproofing, but otherwise it is clean and straight.

This is one of the local guys that comes into work occasionally. Was a black 88 model 75 Series with a warm but tired 3F, crappy bullbar and a Patrol bonnet scoop....

Now it has an LS1 with 255KW out of a wrecked HSV Senator, modified 100 Series bullbar, custom dash & steering ...

Says here that they use a combination of stuff from Asia and the US, but those Competition ones don't look the same as the ones above either...

I ordered a set of the "Lockjaw" fakelocks off Allied through my local dealer in January - still haven't got them yet. Supposed to be arriving in about 2 more weeks but I'll wait & see. Costing about $167.00 each rim.

The delay has apparently been caused by the ring that gets welded in. Wrong size ...

Dunno about 100mm, but I got a few silicon rubber joints in 90deg x 76mm from SuperCheap Auto when I built my snorkel hose to the aircleaner. Caliber was the brand from memory.

Apparently you can get an OME Sport for the 60 series now, but I dunno about using them with a 3 inch spring AND an extended shackle. I'm looking at the same for my 60 shortly.

Mine's a 1985 60 Series wagon that I just bought on the downs.
Driving it back from Brisbane to Ayr I averaged 8.7L/100km. Worked out being about 70L from Aspley to Rockhampton - 671km. Mind you I don't drive like I stole it either... I save that for my 200 series!!!

The early diesels (1KZ-TE) are pretty thirsty in this model - the common rail (1KD-FTV) ones are much better - look for the D4D badge. I think these started in 2005.

One of my good mates bought the earlier one and was pretty dissapointed with the economy and power....

My work one used about 1 litre before the 10,000 km service and hasn't used any since. I towed a 3500kg trailer from Ayr (near Townsville) to Gunnedah, back to Toowoomba, back to Wee Waa, back to Dalby and then back to Ayr - about 7000km in 3 weeks all up. Used no oil and averaged about 17-22L/100km ...
