A Sierra will suck big time if you're going to use it as a daily to travel those kinds of kilometres. I'd go for a Vitara if you had you heart set on a Suzuki.

I'd agree with Turbo Tonka that a Diesel Hilux would be a better choice.

Sounds like a battery or alternator issue.

a) battery's about to die

or

b) alternator isn't charging the battery

I've never pulled a door switch out. I'm sure when you pull it out you'll soon work out the problem.

I've heard if you're replacing the tierod ends it's best to do both sides.

Not too sure how you'd go about doing it as I've never had to do it and haven't bothered looking in to it either.

This weekend I finally got around to finishing the painting of the sills.
Saturday morning I used some more putty to fill in the hollows which became more evident after the original coats of primer.

I think you're right. The black flares against the faded plastic ends caps of the bumper doesn't look right. I may try a metallic grey about the same tonal value as the end cap?

After the 2 hour wait… I sanded back the sills where the filler had been used. I then gave both sills a good going over with a wax & grease remover before proceeding to mask it off for the primer coat.

Removed plastic trim from the sierra

Hearing about the cancer (rust) that is possibly concealed under the plastic trim covering the sills of Sierra's, I had a rush of fecal matter to the brain and got out the grinder

Firstly I removed the rubber trim by unscrewing all the fixings at the base to reveal the steel skirting and ...

If I remember rightly… Many years ago I saw a fibreglass body kit of a Willy's Jeep which was made as a replacement for rusted out Sierra shells. Can't remember where I saw it, or what the cost was.

It would be cool to have a similar thing of the LJ's as a replacement for a Sierra shell.

Autosol (from any good auto shop) and lots of arm work.

Just bear in mind that the mirror finish you seek, will reflect sun light like the disco balls at Studio 54. This can be a PITA when driving on a bright sunny day and the glare from your bar will not only be a hazard to you but others as well.

The one thing that I'm thinking is that the secondaries open basically as soon as you apply throttle. Therefore fuel consumption would increase?

No, not really. If you are hard on the throttle, then yeh, you are going to use more fuel, but driving around town, mine uses about the same.

There's actually a vacuum valve hidden down behind the secondary actuator that it should be connected to - very difficult to see with the carby fitted to the manifold, but there nonetheless. Start with the basics first…
Make sure that it's serviced at regular intervals ie, new plugs, oil and filters.

The symptoms you described with 'hesitation' in second and first gear could be your leads arcing. Many years ago my coil lead was arcing out where it touched my bonnet.

Obviously the answer in a Sierra's highway performance lies in the spelling…

extractors + 2" exhaust = 110kph
extractors + 1.75" exhaust = 110kph
extraktas, an 2" that exsits in front of the back wheel = 85kph :finger:

My last 4ltr wrangler was cheaper on petrol than my 1.3l sierra.

12lph as to 14lph.

Do the maths.

Talk about how cheap a zook is to build, how its so light that it floats when many cannot begin to even consider going, do not speak of fuel usage.

A fuel injected 1.6ltr as stock standard, yea ...
