As for Air to air off road at low speeds once the intercooler is hot it is no longer an intercooler they need good air flow, circuit racing is the ideal environment for air to air I believe. your jacket water system uses the same ambient air speeds as an air to air for cooling?....imo jacket water ...

that line from turbo goes to air/fuel control...it limits fuel at low boost to control smoke/overfueling, once the eng reaches the boost setting in air/fuel the pump delivers max. fuel as per mechanical/governed setting

with both types of cooler you still need airflow to get rid of heat....my money would be on front mount..well shrouded and sealed so fan pulls through core(s) only...crank driven fan has more power and airflow capability than a 12V fan cooling a remote core for jacket-water cooler...prices always su...

weeman's core was a tight fit...seems to be working good...EGT's are low...boost lag is acceptable...weeman's application has a revised turbo spec and minimal fuel rate increase...depends on how much KW increase as to how much heat your asking your cooling package to get rid of...

top mount heat exchanger scrapes through for emissions and production costs....efficiency for performance sux...front mount aftercooler is the way to go but is a tight fit...how much power increase do you want to achieve?....not much of opinion on water to air aftercoolers...It's 30 year old technol...
