Re: Maxidrive upgrade for ser 1 disco.
Grimace, thanks man. I had the parts car sold out from under me which pissed me off no end seeing as it had MD axles frontand rear, MD locker in the front and a arb locker in the rear... Anywho I recently spoke to the resident rover guru in this one horse town and he assures me I'll be fine. So I'm ...

Maxidrive upgrade for ser 1 disco.
Ok, I've been away from here for quite a while, but have just scored a series one turbo diesel disco. Having owned patrols and cruisers I'm a little concerned the about breaking driveline bits. I have found a parts car that has a set of maxidrive axles in it. It's cheap so contrary to what my mrs ...

Where abouts are you located OP ?
I fitted one to my GQ and only required a blue plate for the seating capacity change.

Thanks mate. There is a small fuse panel behind the passenger side kick panel it all seems ok and there is wiring in the drivers side kick panel as well, again it all sems good. From what I understand it is a semi common problem. The fuse panel behind the kick panel is probably supplied by one or ...

Righto Outers, long story short roof rack bolts have leaked and let water run down A pillars into the vehicle. Ok totally out of left field and probably more work than anticipated but what about an outboard motor with a CVT style transmission ? Two stroke could be an advantage IE no sump or oil levels to worry about..........
Just a thought.

Gearbox can be removed easly using an engine crane through the drivers door and in through the gear lever hole. I've managed this on my own. No smashing the floor pan required. That's exactly what I did when I put a new clutch in my truck. Just be careful when you lift it back up that the arm on ...

Check all the usual suspects first, uni joints, slip joint, suspension bushes. Also check your wheels for a missing weight that could be throwing it out of balance at speed.

I would just treat the rust yourself. It may not be the prettiest job but it will work, and lets be honest $4800 to fix the rust you have, is money you will never see again. Other places that weren't treated will rust too. Save your money, spend a few hundred on cutting out the rust where possible ...
