td42 tacho intermittently not working
Hey, i have a 96 GQ with a TD42 and tacho has started to jump around and drop to zero rpm and go all over the place. Just after some info on how to figure out if its the dash or the tacho sensor itself. I have had the sensor out of the the block and looked at it, it looks ok. I have checked the ...

Re: Looking at buying a dual cab navara
yeah i have had a look, i am starting to lean towards a holden colorado now.
The D22 is a bit "industrial" on the inside so to speak. Not real luxurious

Looking at buying a dual cab navara
Hey, I have had my GQ patrol for over 3 years now and my circumstances have changed and i have to get rid of some toys. I dont know much about navaras, well actually i know virtually nothing about them. I have seen the D22 and the D40, are they different year models or just different spec vehicles ...

should i add an intercooler
I have a 4.2 GQ with safari turbo kit, it goes really now well and i have no complaints what so ever. I was just wondering if i was to add an intercooler to it would it make any noticable difference (driving wise) just by itself or would it have to be tuned for any change. Obviously it would ...

im not talking about for my conversion, just asking. ive got a turbo td42 and its plenty good for me, i was just wondering :p there is no reason you cant use the original computer but, they are more than happy to accept mods. Would sort of be the same situation as the turbo'd RB30 motors, huge power ...

this may be a silly question......
i was just wondering if anyone has done or looked into putting the BA/BF falcon turbo motor into a GQ or otherwise. I know the holden v8 and LS1/2 have been done plenty of times but the turbo donk out of the falcon is a ripper motor and cheap to get bulk power out of. Just wondering if its been done ...

They are about 2/3rds the way down the page, may suit what screwy is looking for....
I am slightly interested in this kit too cos it seems very well priced for what you get.

its all fun and games. the vehicles never stop, they are always in use 24/7 when someone finishes their shift someone else jumps in and starts theirs, thats why there are a heap of km on em. be intersting to see how they go compared with the cruisers, wait and see i guess. They are definatley not as ...

there are other new cruisers on site so the airbag issue isnt the problem, it may be that they destroyed a heap of parts in the first few weeks when they OCE got a new one! New GU ute at work
We just got a new GU leaf ute at work (i work at a mine in central qld) and compared to the 75 series cruisers we got its so rough, seems to use the chassis instead of the suspension to soak up the bumps and sends it through the whole vehicle. just wondering if nissan have cured the hand grenading ...

the double pumper will be too much for that engine especially if you want some economy out of it. I have a 308 in my torana with the same ratio diff and gbox as that ute and it sits on bout 2400rpm at 100 i think, it also has a 650 holley but its a vac sec so it only opens the 2 butterflies under ...

where to install a boost gauge?
I new to this whole turbo diesel game, i have recently bought a GQ wagon with the TD42 and safari turbo kit. i was thinking of putting a boost gauge on it for curiosity sakes really, and i was wondering where to "tap" the gauge off. there is the outlet on the intake manifold for the boost ...

i have a TD42 and believe the water pump is leaking, just wondering if there are different types of water pumps on these engines.
did they change the pump on different models or is it the same all the way through.
thanks

my td42 has started to leak coolant from around the lower front of the engine. It appears that it only happens when the engine is warmed up, or that it is blairingly obvious because it drips very freely. Any ideas on what it could be (im new into this patrol diesel thing) and what sort of costs ...

hilux v6 conversion engine mounts
My engine mounts are slighty cracked and the mechanic who is doing the roadworthy wants em changed. I had a look and i know that the passenger side one is a commo V6 unit but am i right in thinking that the driver side one is a standard toyota unit. It looks like it is but not 100% sure. If someone ...

Fuel consumption: Diesel VS Petrol
im am in the market for gq patrol, i have been wondering with the difference in price of diesel compared to petrol (usually around 20c/L) which would be better to get. What i mean is with the price difference at the bowser and will the comsuption of a petrol 4.2 vs a 4.2 turbo diesel be big enough a ...
