For a lift, crank the torsion bars to give a 2" front lift then depending on rear suspension design either go for extended shackles for leaf springs or get a set of stock GQ coil springs for a 2" rear lift. This should allow you to just squeeze some 33" tyres under the guards, you'll need the right ...

I run the 32" Simex Centipedes (actually 33.4") on 15x8" King wheels with a -23mm offset on my NG. The fit fine but you will need at least a 2" lift, they also hangout of the guards by about 2" so flares will be needed.

I get about 650-700km out of 90L on my NG. Thats running 31x10.5 Cooper ST's.

With my 33" Simex Centipedes it does struggle a bit when on the road but off road its a different story. Not too sure if that's diameter only or a combination of aggressive tread and bigger diameter.

wouldn't want to blow a headlight globe now, might be a tad tricky to get to. Looks awesome though, SAS'd paj's look a whole lot better than lifted patrols IMO.

The other option with springs is that generally standard GQ springs fit the rear and give a 2" lift.

They go for around $50 second hand...

The only thing with the one piece snorkels is that if you dint or bend a section you have to replace the whole lot, with a 2 piece with the rubber bends you can just buy another 1m section and cut to size and fit, probably going to be cheaper.

I'd assume its for cooling. Because hot air rises, having twin thermo's pushing air into the engine bay and then allowing it to escape out the top would force a lot more of the hot air out of the engine bay, this would keep the engine and associated components cooler.

Not too sure about the fitting, different body shape so I'd assume no. Ebay normally has snorkels to fit the gen 1 pajeros.

Could always build your own stainless model.

I bought my NG with a jap import 4d56 with 90,00km on the clock, the wrecker i bought the car off said it cost them $3,500 for motor and fitting.

Haven't had any issues so far, probably has 140,000km on it now, just regular servicing etc.

The issue when turning at lock is most likely going to be the steering stops. On the front wishbones there are some stops that stop you from turning too hard, when at hard lock if you hit a bump they will slide against the stops mounted to the chassis causing this squeeling sound. Try greasing them ...

Sorry for the confusion, they are the Simex Extreme Trekker "The centipede" tyres, often called ET's or Pede's.

Them's the ones, the ET's have the 2 middle lugs, the ET2's have the 3 middle lugs.

I had the 32x10.5 ET's on my 3.0 and it span them fine.. I now have these exact tyres on my 2.5 TDI LWB and it doesn't go so well at 110km/h up the freeway but in the rough stuff it pushes them just fine. They actually measure up to be about 33.3" tall and about 11.5" wide so they give a bit more ...

I took mine right out and haven't really noticed any more body roll on the road. Off road it goes great though, better flex for sure. To take it off, you'll probably need to lift the rear of the car, take a wheel off and probably the opposite shock absorber, then you just unbolt it from the chassis ...

I've got 4.85's in my 2.5 Diesel Paj and the engine is working hard just pushing 33" Pedes on the road. Off road is ok but reduction gears would be nice.

Sammyboy, out of interest how much did all that set you back? I also have a LWB NG intercooled TD and I wouldn't mind a bit of extra power :)

Cheers,

What size are you guys running on gen 1 pajeros and what kind of lift did you need?

Also, how do the Procomp retreads compare to the real thing? Anyone had any experiences?

Im thinking i might try and get some 33's for my NG.
