if its not getting enough fuel, boost will be limited.

more fuel in= more gas out = more boost = more air in = opportunity to add more fuel and so on.

I had my boost controller (80series) set at 14 psi, adjusted the boost controller (waste gate) up, but got no more boost, after adding more fuel ...

What exhaust system do you have?

Some old school air research systems used to use restricted exhaust systems to limit boost ie. holden 202.

Are you sure the gauge is good? Can you swap it with a mate to check?

Did you actually take the wastgate out or just the actuator and wire the wastgate ...

I just had a wheel and boss kit given to me and yes it wont cancel the indicator. It doesnt have a seperate cancelling sleeve. Is it seperate or part of the boss.

Just bolted on a borrowed SAAS old school wheel to my Lux however the Boss kit on it doesnt cancel the indicator. Have I put it on wrong or is this the way they work.

not a stock c20, it would have toyota on the comp cover, the piping is aftermarket, could be a safari or DTS turbo kit, definitely after market though.

assuming hilux, there was a model which came out with 2LT (2.4 turbo). i don't know what the gen 1 version looked like (thought it came out earlier than '89)

Just got a xtra cab Hilux and want to fit a Tonneau. I have no hooks and am wondering what my best option is. Could probably have a go myself but could get messy. I imagine Toyota would be expensive. Its a bit of a roughy so dont want to pay top dollar. What have other people done?

Go and see a Locksmith (not a "key cutter") and get a key cut to code NOT DUPLICATED this would be a good start, then graphite as already said, if this is no good locks will need to be rekeyed.

Could be wrong, but don't think a 2.8 was an origonal motor in a 88 hilux.

Yeah the motor has been put in later its from a 96 vehicle. Everything is hooked up like the aircon and power steer. I am told its all legit and complied. Thats what I like about this vehicle. Not sure if at $6K its too ...

Allot better... a factory turbo 2.4 makes as much power as the non turbo 2.8... they are identical on the outside, the 2.8 has a slightly larger bore, and handle low boost turbo set-ups very nicely.


The key is to use good quality J spec oil and do oil/filter changes at 5k religiously :!:

I drove an 89 Landcruiser Sahara 4.2 TD the other day and am wondering how it compares to a TD 2.5 Pajero. I will be wanting to tow a 1.2 ton boat short ranges and beach work. Pajeros can be had for around $5K and the Landcruisers are about $7-8K in turb diesel.

Sloppy steering, gotta remember the steering was designed in 81, so dont try and compare it to a 2007 commodore

With old steering there is always going to be a small dead zone, if its any more than about 1" (in the steering wheel) then theres something wrong.

Firstly an 88/89 factory turbo diesel cruiser will not be a 4.2, it will be a 3.9 (or sometimes called 4.0) If it is a factory turbo diesel it will be a 12HT, and the engine will be worth 8k in good running order. 377K for a 12HT is nothing if it has been looked after.

Checked out a work mates 88/89 Sahara today.
4.2 Turbo Diesel which has had a rebuild some stage in its 377T Km life.
Front and rear aircon, sunroof, centre console fridge, power windows etc which all work. Greasable shackles all fitted. Sus good.
