Re: rc colorado: thai made BTV lift kits - safe?
They are a pile of shit. I know Overkill had all sorts of issues fitting one to a Ranger. The front tailshaft didnt bolt back up as it hit the gearbox crossmember and was a complete driveshaft flange height out from fitting. Id avoid it big time.

Re: Woodpecker Challenge (sorra site) nsw june long weekend.
Id be interested who the insurance policy is arranged through. Its definitely not CCDA if they don't approve unregoed vehicles. I applaud the On All Fours for standing up and holding another event there, its a great spot. Id just be getting a legal eye over the policy as some of the "insurance" for ...

Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
All good Mark, you do raise some good points. A pre fabbed chassis would be great, and would save some people a lot of time and someone came up with a design that could meet both chassis rails/body width requirements and no rails then it would be a very good thing, and have the best of both worlds ...

Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
We have 73 nominations for this year. Why is it so hard to build a car that can do both speed and crawling that has a chassis? Is it because its "uncool" to have a set of rails still or do you think it'll make the car slower or something?????? Look at the 40 that Micka built a couple of years back ...

Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
I think the chassis rule could go BUT only if the body rule was very strict! It must look like a bodied rig not a buggy with some flat sheet skinning it. It works for Nascar and V8 supercars. If only it was as easy as Supercar/Nascar ;) With both them style cars, all are basically the same chassis ...

Its a little disappointing that (not in this thread but others ive read) people whine and complain regarding rollcage materials, that they cost too much etc when they are more than happy to fork out more for a set of alloy beadlocks or coilovers but not the safety aspect of the vehicle. Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
Yes the consistency is the key. But you're comparing 2.6mm to 3.2mm. Bend the 3.0mm 350mpa tube it'll be a different story. Also what is a tad odd is that with the cage rules that we run under states "MINIMUM of 2.5mm wall thickness". People see that and think that's what they HAVE to use. Ive had ...

Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
Unless you want to move to QLD as they still allow black pipe as cages... So exactly how much stronger is a cage built from ERW than a cage built from pipe? Ask anyone who has bent both pipe and proper cage material and they will tell you the proper tube is so much more difficult to bend ...

Re: patrol diffs
As far as im aware, the diffs are the same in the front across the range except for the 4.8 which had bigger discs and I think bigger calipers. Ratios are 4.1, 4.3 and 4.6 depending on which motor the vehicle had. The rear diff is either the H233 or H260 which is the diameter of the crownwheel. The ...

Jeez im glad i read this! I have the 4.5 100 series and same as you i struggle to get 400kms from a tank of unleaded. Mine runs LPG as well and ill be lucky to get 300 out of a 90L LPG tank. Them figures drop to roughly 200-250 kms when i tow the 40, with unleaded. Less of course with LPG.
